Fleetwood Town FC, Highbury Stadium, Fleetwood, FY7 6TX

The stadium is modern having been completely re-built in the last few years, matching the teams' meteoric rise up the pyramid with four promotions in six seasons. The latest edition to the ground is the impressive looking Parkside Stand which was first opened to spectators in March 2011. This 2,000 capacity all-seated stand was built at a cost of around £4m. It has a single tier of seating, whilst above are two rows of executive/hospitality areas, the upper row of which has a small tier of seating outside.

Away fans are mostly housed in the Percy Ronson covered terrace at one end of the stadium, where 621 fans can be accommodated. The terrace capacity also includes an open flat standing area on the Highbury Stand side where 210 can be accommodated. There is a ticket office and programme booth situated outside the visiting supporters’ entrance.

Visiting supporters are also allocated 300 seats in the Parkside Stand and this can be increased if required. The facilities in this stand are far better than the terrace with alcoholic drinks available and large screens on the concourse showing Sky Sports

How to get there:

By road:
Leave the M6 at Junction 32 and take the M55 towards Blackpool. Then leave the M55 at Junction 3 and take the A585 towards Fleetwood. On the outskirts of Fleetwood you will come to a roundabout with Blackpool and Fylde College on your left. Continue straight on towards Fleetwood but, after the roundabout, take the first left into Copse Road. After about a mile, and as you pass Fleetwood Fire station on your left, then branch left and turn left onto to Radcliffe Road (going back on yourself but in parallel with Copse Road). Then take the next right into Stanley Road. Turn left onto Park Avenue (pedestrian access to Stadium), which continues into Nelson Road. Turn right into Hatfield Avenue and right at the roundabout into Highbury Avenue for the club car park.

The away supporter entrance is post code FY7 6SF (42 Hatfield Avenue – shop / Nails).

Visiting supporters coaches should drop off and park up on the opposite side of the street to this address.

Car Parking:

There are a limited number of parking spaces available at the stadium and there is plenty of street parking available around the stadium.

By rail:
From Blackpool North train station 7.5 miles to Highbury Stadium. The following options are available:
• By Bus: Bus routes 1 and 14 leave Blackpool town centre frequently and both pass close to the ground. Journey time is around 30 minutes. When you come out of Blackpool North Station walk up to the main road which is Talbot Road and then walk down past Wilkinson’s store, cross the road at the Station Pub and then walk down to the bus stop outside Home Bargains. The line 14 is on the hour and then every 10 minutes to Fleetwood. Or you can walk down to the Promenade. At the North Pier you will see the tram stop, at the end of the tram shelter there is a bus stop for the Line 1 which also goes to Fleetwood. Line 1 runs 12 minutes past the hour and then every 20 minutes. The bus fare is about £2, but you can buy an unlimited day travel pass for about £3.95 per adult.
• By Tram: Services from the sea front to Fleetwood run every 20 minutes. The fare is about £2.50 and the journey takes around 40 minutes. The nearest stop to the ground is Stanley Road, which is around 200 yards from the stadium.
• By Taxi: Available outside the railway station.
A Black Cab, holding up to six people, will take you from Blackpool Station to the ground for about £18. Journey time about 25 minutes.

From Poulton-le-Fylde train station you can get either a number 80 or 82 bus to Fleetwood (the bus stop is directly opposite the station entrance). It costs about £5.50 return. If you prefer you can get off on Poulton Road right outside the Strawberry Gardens Pub (the ground is a 10-15 walk from the pub). The bus takes only 15-20 minutes.

Where to drink:

NOTE: Alcohol is available inside the stadium but only to away fans who have seating tickets in the Parkside Stand.

Jim’s Sports Bar further along Highbury Avenue (and at the opposite end of the pitch from the away end) is generally open to away supporters and can be accessed from the park pathway running along that side of the ground. It is open from 12 noon on Saturdays and 5pm on matchday evenings It serves hot food and shows BT and Sky Sports. The Highbury Club adjacent to the away turnstiles does not allow in visiting supporters.

The closest pub to the ground is the Jolly Sailor which is around a five minute walk away. The pub is on Radcliffe Road (going out of Fleetwood), on the other side of the tram tracks. The Jolly Sailor has sunk and now looks like an apartment block.Otherwise it is probably best to take the 10-15 minute stroll into Fleetwood itself (on leaving the stadium entrance go up to the main road and turn left) where there are plenty of pubs to be found.

The Wetherspoon outlet, The Thomas Drummond*, is on London Street (off Lord Street).

About the same distance away is the Strawberry Gardens* pub on Poulton Road. This is owned by the local Fuzzy Duck brewery and features its beers from plus guest ales. It also provides food, the catering for which is provided by Syd Little (of Little & Large fame) and his wife.
The Queen's Hotel on Poulton Road is a 15 min walk from the Stadium. Go up Highbury Avenue then left at the St Nicholas church into Poulton Road. The Queens is about 300 yards along this road on the left.

On the seafront itself is the Mount Hotel* which shows live televised sports.

* In CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

Where to eat:
Hot food and refreshments are available in the ground.
There is a fish & chip shop and a convenience store opposite the Stadium on Highbury Avenue. There is also an Aldi Supermarket on Poulton Road (at the top end of Highbury Avenue).

The Thomas Drummand (Wetherspoons) and the Wyre Light are both decent pubs in the town centre of Fleetwood and then if you walk from there to the Strawberry Gardens on Poulton Road you are heading the right way to the ground (5 mins walk) .

If you want any grub then either eat at Wetherspoons or the Wyre Light, do not leave it until your last option is the chippy opposite the ground (you have been warned !).

As you can tell from Diego's pic the barmaids are quite tasty in Jims bar inside the ground, the Beers not bad in their too.

If anybody needs to know anything before they travel then please ask.

BUmp

If you want to see the good looking girls in the bar then you will have to go into the home end after the game, everybody is welcome to drink in there but only after. segregation will mean we will be stood up in the Percy Ronson stand.

Who's coming to Fleetwood?

I live in Poulton.

Small centre with 7 pubs

Golden ball, the bull, The cube, the grapevine, the thatched, old town house. Also the elk which is a weatherspoon around the corner.

I'd expect it would be pretty quiet but decent priced beer food except the cube which is the most modern but most expensive ,and 15 mins from fleetwood
