MAC0AFC
what must we do to keep this man at latics next season? for me he is our key player and without him we're not as complete.. consistent 8/10 performances from him every week and in my opinion one of our best players - what do people think the chances or him signing another contract with us are?? surely we've got to offering him a decent wedge to keep him here. yarddog73
finding the money will be the problem, with rooney and prob grounds of the wage bill it should be do able, harkins is key for me a player who will bring the crowds back, enjoyed watching wes give it to harkins over their second goal at the final whistle yesterday thats whats been missing for me this season but plenty are standing up to be counted now. Roger Ritchie
Wes and Brown were head and shoulders above anything Bradford had to offer yesterday.
blueatheart
Wes and Brown were head and shoulders above anything Bradford had to offer yesterday. Browns little head back to the keeper in the second half, cool as custard. A player with confidence. I'd like Wes to stay also. I don't think Smith will be here but I would be happy with the back 9. We need strikers to score and JCH is one part of a strike force.
NewBlue
Wes' goal was a thing of beauty. Exemplified how his contribution to the team has become dynamic rather than simply being the terrier. Late runs into the box by a midfielder is what we have been crying out for for two years and Wes has been the one recently that has filled the gap. I'd be gutted if Smith-Wes partnership is broken in the summer, it's taken time but they've found a connection that best suits the team around them and it's working. rudemedic
The performance of Wes in recent weeks has shown up another of Dickov's failings. He kept trying to get Furman to push on, and that only really worked against Donny in the cup last season. When Furman didn't do it, he should have just told Wes to push on, something he showed 2 seasons ago and this season he is more than capable of doing. the_mighty_bosh
Wes and Grounds are 2 players that I'd really like us to keep and will be difficult to replace but given that they will both be 27 next season I think it's likely that both will be looking for the biggest pay day of their careers at low Champ/high League One teams. I prefer Wes as a player as he is more consistent but Grounds will go higher as his positions are more of a niche than Wes'. As Korey is under contract I'd like to think we can keep him unless we get an offer that can significantly improve our team or squad. Keeping Harkins is realistic and should be our 1st priority. From a strategic pov Grounds and Wes offer more to the unit, but from a purely entertainment angle there's not many (if any) players around like Harkins. From his side I can't see there being other clubs that would offer him the same creative freedom that we do.
Roger Ritchie
I love Grounds. Playmaker at left back.
