HarryBosch
Am I alone in finding it a bit annoying & depressing when this is sung? Is it something to be celebrated? What message does it send to Johnson, the players & the owners - that 20th place is an achievement? Fair enough when we were battling against all odds at the bottom of the Premier League but, now? jsslatic
Agreed. Didn't sing it on Saturday. Survival this season is not an achievement, it's avoiding a disaster. 'We are mid-table' on the other hand will be worth a rendition on the final day (hopefully)...
palmer1
We have not been in the relegation places all season. What's everyone worried about? I tempt fate then laugh in its face! :censored: you fate!
jimsleftfoot
It can be an acheivement in some situations, I think last year for example the way we turned it around or when we won against Reading and Bradford on the last day, but not this year (unless we go on a bad run and again need to win the last game). slystallone
Cringey. Essentially singing "We Are Distinctly Average" isnt the sort of chant i tend to join in with... Edited April 7, 2014 by slystallone

Twisbrogan
I prefer it to "We're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen" because this is a ridiculous claim for any League One outfit to make. At least "We are staying up" is honest and can ultimately be backed up with evidence, which I enjoy. I'd like to hear someone put "We've played better and lost" or "I hope we kick on next season and flirt with the play-offs (regardless of our budget)" into a chant. Something with a hint of ambition but not completely stupid.
slystallone
"say we are a League 2 side playing in League 1, but trying hard to compete against the shadow of 2 huge Manchester sides on our doorstep" Fit that into a chant & i'll be impressed! leeslover
14 points off the play offs. 5 games to go. we can do this thing (although I suspect that mathematically we can't)
Dave_Og
14 points off the play offs. 5 games to go. while it's mathematically possible... (although i suspect it isn't as some of the teams probably have to play each other and are therefore guaranteed something)

HarryBosch
Orient fans sang "we are top of the league, we are staying up" earlier in the season

(although i suspect it isn't as some of the teams probably have to play each other and are therefore guaranteed something) It can be done. AnthonyOAFC
Another song which I heard was sung at Bradford was "Your ground is too big for you." Lame!
youngen
Probably being optimistic, but the form were in and the :censored:e teams weve got left to play, I think we will finish 12th on 58 points
Stevie_J
Never sung it, never will. Well maybe if we get back in the Championship, but not before. I think I probably did when we stayed up by winning the last game of the season about a decade ago - against Bradford, was it? I think, in that context, it was fair enough.
