Football snobbery

Recommended Posts

Was just reading an article on Frimpong by the London evening standard. Just total snobbery saying he's going from the high life of London to "the brass band capital" it got me thinking with us being a northern club is it really this hard to attract players from the south. The article goes on to say there is about 25 clubs which could offer a football life style wage. At the end of the day you are being paid to play football possibly 2500 a week which is very comfortable.

This really annoys me about the southerners.

You're being too precious

However, imagine being a middle class looking white man who lived somewhere where he felt it acceptable to profer the sentence "I don't want to riff too hard here on Frimpong" - :censored: that.

I bet he starts 2 out of 3 sentences with "mate,........"

Just crap journalism really

Your better of being a footballer living in Barsnley than a professional in London basically paying someonelse mortgage because you have no hope of getting on the property ladder down there.

Frimpong himself is a classic example of a pretty average footballer getting ideas above his station and more interested in pursuing celebrity.

Not worth getting worked up about, the journo is just a :censored: (and I doubt more than a third of his readers are London born). Frimpong perhaps needs to train harder. He'll get as much clunge in Barnsley as he would in Dagenham, he'd have done even better if Barca had come in for him. I notice the article didn't break down where the 25 clubs are based.

Having spent nearly 6 months living in Birmingham I can assure people that it certainly isn't grim everywhere up North. Some Southerners are just very ignorant, let that be their problem.

I think our close proximity to Manchester helps us attract players if anything. I think where we might fall down is things like Training Facilities and of course the fact we only get just over 3000 fans through the gate.

Here is an extract from an article he wrote when the minute's silence for Thatcher debate was going on

"You know what I mean. Even when there’s a minute’s silence for a perfectly decent sportsman who has carked it, the routine is clearly established: the tannoy man asks everyone to shut up a bit; the referee pips his whistle; the crowd is quiet for about 13 seconds before some flatulent cret shouts ‘b******s’; several arguments break out; the respectable majority of the crowd attempt to cover their embarrassment by clapping; the clapping goes on for about 19 seconds; the telly shows a few cutaways of footballers looking awkward and bored; finally the ref puts everyone out of their misery by peeping again; the sport starts."

Prick.

Some Northerners are very ignorant, too. As are some Midlanders. In fact, large numbers of the human race are ignorant, regardless of arbitrary borders.
