Update on the #oafc shop closure in today's paper which is worth a read. Boiled down to two words: don't panic

Don't panic.

There's a few headless chickens around these parts that need to heed that advice.

It seems to me the same people complaining it was empty and was a waste of space anow the most vocal it has gone. Funny that.

More trade is done online nowadays anyway, suspect it may be the same for the shop.

All the OASIS crew going online, snapping up the beach towels for their summer retreats to the Maldives.

Just thinking on the space left behind by the club shop. Depending on the refurbishment of the main stand (if/when it happens) could maybe use it as another bar for fans before an after games?

Not sure what demand would be for two bars but worth a shout.

A decent ticket office with capacity to cope with big games would be nice!

But will there be room to make bacon butties and cups of tea to feed the 5000 - in the queue for the Liverpool FA cup tickets?

They'll be able to buy a smoked ham and rocket ciabatta for a fiver from the new coffee shop.

Supposed to be something in the Chron today about the club shop closure....anybody read it yet?

I've just got round to reading the Matthew Chambers piece in the Chron from that day.

It says the commercial units in the new stand are expected to be completed by January 2015. Until then club goods can be purchased either online or in alternative local stores.

An Athletic source said "There are plans for the existing shop, which can't be disclosed at this time, but which we believe will provide a good return...we ask fans to stick with us. This is short-term pain for long-term gain."

it also says no members of staff are to lose their jobs when the current shop shuts for good.
