OAFCM35
Where has mentality that we are too big for "tin pot" cups come from? I'd love nothing more than a trip out at Wembley with Latics JPT it's a yes from me
Magic Mikey
I really can't be bothered with this thread at this stage. However I'm going to keep an eye on it because it could get exciting later on (unless someone from Chesterfield posts).
Lee Sinnott
After so long in this horrendous League, the only thing that keeps me going is the thought of the boys in blue parading this trophy around Wembley...

Latics and England
It is over 8,500 days since Latics last won some silverware. How anyone can dismiss our only chance of winning some more amazes me. I hate the fact that the JPT is our only chance of winning something but that's where we are. How anyone can dismiss our only chance of winning some more amazes me. I hate the fact that the JPT is our only chance of winning something but that's where we are. We also have a chance of winning the league, promotion or the play offs And a smaller chance of the league cup (already out) and FA Cup
deyres42
Luton, Plymouth, Scunthorpe, Southend - all won the title whilst we've been in this league. We're probably as far away now as we've been since relegation to getting back up, very depressing to think that this is our only chance of winning summat though. Bristolatic
The JPT gives lower League clubs a chance of a Wembley appearance. After all, barring some minor miracle, 3rd and 4th division clubs won't win the Capital One or FA Cups any time soon. OK, the play off final is another opportunity of playing there, but the JPT gives you one more crack at it. So it's a "Yes" from me.
lookersstandandy
We've been in the 3rd tier for 18 years.... so realistically we can't turn our nose up at it. I'd have given you a different answer 17 years ago.... but that was then....!
GlossopLatic
Yes at worst we can give a few of the young players competitive football. At best it's a shot of going to wembley and lifting a trophy. The ambition police will be in the no camp "how dare you set your sights so low as wanting to win the JPT don't you realise we were once in the premier league!!!! yarddogs
I'am still pissed off the way we rolled over so easy against Chesterfield in the Northern Final when Dickov was in charge.
opinions4u
I'am still pissed off the way we rolled over so easy against Chesterfield in the Northern Final when Dickov was in charge. The two games where we had 40+ attempts on goal, had a :censored: penalty decision given against us away and a hand involved in their last minute winner at BP? Me too! yarddogs
You can have as many shots as you like in a game all the procession you like but if you don't put it in the back of the net you win :censored: all. That was the best shout of getting to Wembley in a long long while and we pissed it away against what was then a League 2 side. We're probably as far away now as we've been since relegation to getting back up, very depressing to think that this is our only chance of winning summat though. Do you see those 4 as success stories to aspire to? I wonder how you would have coped being a Luton fan over the last 22yrs - they were relegated from the Premiership the year before us. And where are the other 3 now? Every club in the land has its own rollercoaster graph of success and failure. Every fan in the land is looking to a wealthy human being, they don't know from Adam, to fund their club. This is eminently more relevant today than at any other time in the games history. The bigger the club, the more likelihood of major investment. We are not a big club, there are many bigger clubs in L1 and quite a few in L2. As of 2014 we have a fan base of circa 3500 and I cant visualise that going above 10,000, even with a modicum of success in the Championship. I accept many fans may disagree with that last figure but the first is the most relevant in attracting investment and adding 50% to the second isn't exactly mouth watering. I am happy to accept the Tin Pot Cup as our easiest route to Wembley by the same logic I accept 18yrs in L1 is not failure. I don't know who to ask for investment or to demand from for our success. Money has never guaranteed success and I don't really blame a stranger for not being interested in running our club.
bigfatjoe1
I'd give it some purpose by replacing it with a divisional cup (same for L.2). The winners get a wild card. If they finish 3rd to 6th they get to play the 2nd placed team in a play-off for auto promotion. if they finish anywhere else (except in the relegation places) they get to play the sixth placed team for the right to compete in the play-offs. if they finish in the relegation places then they get to play the 20th placed team to decide the final relegation spot. Bottom line is that it's a :censored: competition. I mean really pointless. It always has been. Give it some weight by giving the winners a wild card.
