Stevie_J
Can't say I have much sympathy for them as a club. It's harsh on their fans but fielding a player who is suspended doesn't leave UEFA with an awful lot of choice.

I agree with you in the principle that they were wrong and needed to be punished but last club who did it only received a fine, Legia have had the book thrown at them where is the justice in that? UEFA are tightening up their processes? About time if so, else = If you're looking for consistency and fairness in football, good luck. rudemedic
Rules is rules. I have a lot of sympathy for them, but they didn't adhere to the rules and paid the price for it. The fact that the rule seems actually very silly to me is by-the-by. Why should you have to name a player that you know is ineligible in a squad in order for him to serve his suspension, it doesn't happen in other competitions. That being said the rules will be very accessible and Warsaw have no excuse for not adhering to them, and will probably pay someone to make sure that they are, I expect that someone's role at Latics covers that sort of situation, Warsaw have more substantial resources than we do and the reward is much bigger too. It is still funny, though.
Roger Ritchie
I think there was more too it. Probably worried their fans would bring UEFA more bad press.

leeslover
Just the idea of fining a club because their fans don't like UEFA is amazing. Although it might not be the club's fault if the fans riot you can understand the idea - this will hurt your club. EUFA and FIFA often carry on as if they think they are a government, but no Western government would dare fine a group because of a banner criticizing them.
