attendancies

Recommended Posts

Saturday - may have been affected by... Man U at home City away at Hull both kicking off at 3pm. Ryder Cup on the television and two premier league derbies bookending the afternoon.

Latics not really on fire at home.

As Opinions4U wrote, the only way is to win home games, scoring more goals and playing sexy (sic) football. Then we will see an increase in attendances. Oh, and there is the new stand opening round about Easter to tie in with our entry into the top six and push towards the top. Easy...

The requirements to increase attendances:

1) Win home games.

2) Score more goals when winning home games.

3) Sustain (1) and (2) over an extended period.

4) Get into the top 6.

5) Play sexy football while delivering the above

try to keep the team together i understand we are a selling club but if we can build and develop team it helps also.

  • 3 weeks later...

It's a shame the new stand and facilities don't look like being open for the Liverpool game, it would have been a great way to launch it.

Mike Astley will sort us a friendly with Rangers next preseason as the grand opening of the new stand and a glorious day will be had by all

If they bring 5 or 6 hundred we might scrape 4000... What we really need tonight is a thumping win and a good performance which could give us 4500 home fans and 7000+ on Saturday.

We've been in this situation so many times before and ended up with a regulation 0 v 1. We must buck the trend...these are absolutely must win games if we are to entice the floaters and lapsed fans back to BP.

Is there any good websites for looking at football attendances over the years?

I seem to recall some pretty low attendances in the old Division Two prior to the "Pinch Me" season when we were regularly battling relegation and had been in the same division for a long long time.

The 6 point plan to attendances is sport on - in the end there are the people that will come almost no matter what is served up on the pitch (and cost and length of time of crap on offer slowy reduces this numner) and those that (oddly) view it as an entertainment offerring and will come and pay when they will be entertained.

Agreed. Latics have had a track record for the most part when they do get a rare large home crowd (Celebration Sunday being the exception to the rule) of under-performing and putting people off.

And Coventry City have had a pretty good record of turning up at BP and winning a goddamn awful game of football 0-1 from my recollections.

Time to change the record tonight.
