Teams v Swindon and Notts County

Recommended Posts

Swindon are doing better but Notts County look very tight at the back.

So much so, Saturday's game has 0-0 written all over it.

They've just gone to Peterborough away and not conceded which very few teams will manage and haven't let more than one in in a league game so far.

Swindon, while their goals against isn't terrible, do tend to concede at least one.

With this in mind, should LJ take a bit of a chance with Forte at Swindon assuming he's not quite 100%, rather than save him for Notts County where he might be? On the basis it's more likely there'll be goals in the game.

Or am I looking at this the wrong way round and we should save him for Notts County because they're harder to score against and he's our only player who's quite good at that?

Did Wilkinson or Turner do enough for a start tomorrow night if Forte is still out?

I'd like to see Bove thrown on if we need a goal.

If that late chance had fallen to him rather than Morgan Smith on Saturday we'd be 7th now.

Forte/Dayton

Poleon

Wilkinson.

I'd play 3 in central midfield, look to get the fullback's forward and use forte(if fit) and Poleon as advanced wingers either side of Wilkinson.

I think we are set up very well to counter attack with Poleon and Forte for both games.

GK Rachubka

RB B. Wilson

RCB J. Wilson

LCB Elokobi

LB Mills

DM Kelly

RCM Winchester

LCM Jones

STR Poleon

STC Philliskirk (in the hole or false 9)

STL Forte

Philliskirk dropping deep could allow the other two strikers to find a lot of space, while the rest of the team can keep things tight and break when necessary.

CB: Elokobi

RB: Wilson

CDM: Kelly

LCM: Jones

RCM: Winchester

LW: Forte

ST: Philliskirk

RW: Poleon

Get Kelly sitting in the holding role and allow the other two to feed the front three. Can't drop Phillskirk either, he's been top quality the past 4 games.

Just seen i've gone for the same as mighty_bosh... waste of time typing this out

Nope, Turner had one chance when he came on & that was all he did. Wilkinson looked a different type of threat, but spent most of his time outside of the box working channels, instead of being on the end of some fantastic deliveries. Of the 2 Wilkinson would be the closest to a start, but Id stick with the same team as Saturday should Forte not be fit.

I'd stick with whatever we are currently doing. If you don't concede then you don't lose and we haven't conceded for a bit. It has taken the players some games to get to grips with how they are being setup and I see little point in changing things up just yet. We are on a good run that is seeing us hard to beat and picking up points. We are missing our top scorer but teams of our size always do.

Before we get carried away with ourselves we still need to be looking over our shoulder rather than looking at the top 6, we can worry about the top 6 after Christmas if we are still in the hunt. I'd rather see us concentrating on the way we play, developing partnerships and being in a position to cope when key players are out injured.

We have now gone 7 hours and 26 minutes of football since we picked the ball out our own net and that was away at Deepdale in the 4th minute.

Thats pretty remarkable for a team that has in the past conceded so many stupid goals.

Personally, and of course this all depends on if he is fit at all but I would rest Forte against Swindon with the intention of unleashing him against Notts County, start as we started on saturday this team is going to be more at home when it is away this season,

I don't see any reason why we can't keep be 6 unbetaten come saturday at 5PM.

I can't see Forte starting tomorrow now unless he rests Poleon

Sounds like Wilkinson is in with a good chance of starting after Tuesday
