Lancashire Senior Cup team selection rules?

Recommended Posts

I assume Latics aren't in breach of the 6 first team players rule in that Southport have agreed it can be dispensed with tonight.

Lancashire Senior Cup rules;
15. PROVISIONS CONCERNING QUALIFICATION OF PLAYERS.
b. Clubs must play 6 players from first team squad. This rule can be amended at the discretion of the
committee if the two competing finalists mutually agree it would be in the best interests of the
competition.

First team for the Lancashire Senior Cup?

Never heard of that.

Surely it is the regular players of the Reserve team, or at the most those that may have played in the first team at some point in the season.

That rule is on par with the JPT, so surely they must all agree beforehand to waive the rule as a matter of procedure?

Look at our squad for the match:

1 - Joel Coleman

2 - Rahul Palmer
3 - Eddie Fulwood
4 - Callum Etches
5 - George Edmondson
6 - Ben Grant
7 - Alex Read
8 - Jack Tuohy
9 - Jordan Bove
10 - Devante Jacobs
11 - Jordache Walters
12 - Callum Scullion
13 - Chris Renshaw
14 - Jake Hargreaves
15 - Lee Knight
16 - Kallum Mantak

Burnley win spot kick shoot out in Senior Cup
Latics reserves were knocked out of the Lancashire FA Senior Cup by Burnley at Turf Moor last night after a penalty shoot out. The game finishing 1-1 at the end of normal time.
Latics, featuring a mixture of trialists, youth team and first teamers, were equal to their Championship rivals in a first half of few chances. The home side's Ross Wallace, playing his first 90 minutes since knee surgery at the start of the season, coming closest with an effort that keeper Joel Coleman palmed away.

To be fair I half expected Turner maybe a few other fringe players to have a got a run out.

And me - mind you Bove is in tonight's team, although he's not been on the fringe since his goal.

Is he back as a regular in the youth team again?

He's too old for the youths.

I know, been shatting myself all day thinking about it.

You may scoff, but it's a slight on the club if the secretary isn't aware of any competition rules, as I said I'm assuming all is ok and Southport have agreed to this.

Citeh have beaten Bury this afternoon in the same competition in a team made up of their development squad so I would expect that the rule isn't generally enforced

No use having a rule thats not generally enforced.

If they enforced the rule how many teams do you think would pull out of it? Common Sense prevails by the looks of it.....Latics all conquering youth team will hopefully get the chance to test themselves against some of the academy sides

I'm not arguing against the merits of kids, but why have rules which no one takes any notice of? they were obviously designed to add some spectator attraction to the competition, which is now in effect demoted to another youth cup.

He does seem to be a regular scorer - he must be doing something wrong in training ....

I have to say he didn't impress me on the night, I liked the prompting, probing and the astute distribution from midfielder Alex Read though.
