November Feeling

Recommended Posts

Bristol City (A)

FA Cup 1st Round

Crawley (H)

Sheffield United (A)

Rochdale (A)

For some non pessimistic reason, i fear losses at Bristol and sheffield, but i would snap your hand off at a point from either. Crawley at home should be 3 points, rochdale away is a difficult one with the way they too are playing, i would take a draw but a win would be fantastic.

The unbeaten run sounds great thought doesn't it!

Out of the 4 league games I'd take 2 wins and 2 defeats and not worry about the unbeaten record.

I think I agree that overall wins matter now more than 'just' remaining unbeaten! It's the 3 points that will keep us up there.... God I'm feeling giddy...

1 win and 3 draws OR 2 wins and 2 defeats?

Whilst the latter gives us more points, taking points away from rivals and maintaining the buoyancy that the run is creating might be better in the long term?

Realise the run will end at some point, but ideally against an also-ran rather than a top team - can chalk one off to a bad day, the other potentially puts doubts in the mind (we are not as a good as them).

Tough next few games.....but I think if you are at the top and battling for every point they will feel like that to the end of the season (they did back in 90/91 where I was nervous all season then you look back at the table and realise we were never out of the Top 2 from about game 4 onwards).

The team and our most revered and excellent manager fear no body. This team is only going to get better. Forte is playing within himself in order to stay fit - both the injuries he has had so far came when he challenged for the ball. Jabo is the missing part of the jigsaw - I hope we can keep him but it will be hard with stand out performances like that one. In LJ I trust to find a replacement should he go. Why shouldn't the run go on and on......

As someone who posts on here said on twitter last night, if we are still unbeaten when we play Dale, it would be typical Latics for them to beat us, thus end our unbeaten run. He has a point.

The same applies if we get a snide League 2/conference side in the cup away.

To be fair LJ has already shunned a few 'typical latics' stereotypes this year

- we never come back from behind

- we never beat a lower ranked team at home

- we can't go on an unbeaten run

- we never look like owning a 20+ top goal scorer

- we can't see hold out to a slender lead

- we can't challenge a top 10 team away

Let's forget the past and put faith in LJ to rip up the 'typical latics' :censored:e we have witnessed for the last 20 odd years

The test will come as to how we react when the run ends and whether we can pick ourselves up and put together another run..... Tbf runs of 11 unbeaten and now 13 unbeaten suggest we can do that. Saturday is a massive test though....

Definitely, that was one thing about us when Dowie was manager was how we bounced back from defeats. The fact we've come into this season on the back of another unbeaten run certainly suggests to me that we have it in us to keep momentum up. As long as there isn't a end of season collapse like we saw in 2008/09 and 2010/11.
