oafc1955
Hope we can beat them in the JPT....no doubt they are the division's form team with 6 wins on the bounce, however, here's an interesting statistic from Bristol City's forum........... 5 of their next 6 games are away from home and so far they haven't played anyone on their travels who are currently in the top 16! slystallone
Similar changes for this one as per the Barnsley game. Rest Forte, and Winchester. And Kelly. And maybe Mills. Bring in Poleon for Forte, Dayton for Winchester and Tidser for Kelly. Then maybe Conor Brown, Dave Mellor or Jack Truelove for Mills. Other than that, usual suspects everywhere else and go for it. Winnable game and chance to progress further towards a trip to Wembley.
disjointed
I would definitely rest Kelly, I feel he is essential to our promotion push (did I really post that). The way he operates at the base of the diamond gives all the other midfielders so much more freedom, his work rate and ability to break up opposition attacks is a joy to watch. Blue_Guru
Think this is why LJ says he wants a couple more faces in! So he can give key people sufficient rest!

We cant rest many due to the rules of the JPT just play the players from our own squad who have already played some games
TheBigDog
Think this is why LJ says he wants a couple more faces in! So he can give key people sufficient rest!I just don't get this - we have Tidser, Mellor, Elokobi, Lockwood, Poleon, Turner, Brown, Bove, Dayton who did not start the latest game at home to Bradford. Granted Elokobi and Lockwood are probably a couple of weeks away from full fitness but how many players does LJ need? And what message does it send to the squad players? oafc_lover
Might just be me but I think we have good strength in depth all over the park maybe barring the GK's but I'd be happy keeping them as they are. Rather than bringing in 2 or 3 new players - why not bring in 1 marquee player that could draw a few more fans through the gate?

It gives the message if you dont do the buisness your out, some of them players who are struggling for places on the bench were first teamers last season it shows how far we have come, last season the team picked itself this season there is competition all through the team, players like Dayton, Philliskirk and Winchester now realise on bad game and they lose their place, there is no doubt the players have upped there game as a result of the squad being so healthy, recruiting when we are on the up makes perfect sense it also allows you to attract potentially a better players who want to be part of a successful team. The problem then is that they will also want some guarantee that their player gets game time.My view is that we stay true to the current squad. Also, the one position where we are exposed is Goalkeeper. If The Chubster gets injured then we are lacking experienced back up. Chaddy_Ender
Agree about the keeper and maybe another striker, there doesnt seem to be much cover for Jones/Kelly either, Tidser has been really unfortunate and is more than suitable but he is only here till January so it makes sense to have a look around now. Dieng and Tidser would provide cover for Kelly and Jones. In fact it got me thinking of two teams:Rachubka, Kusunga, Wilson J, Elokobi, Mills, Winchester, Jones, Kelly, Philliskirk, Forte, Ibehre Tyson, Wilson B, Lockwood, Dieng, Brown, Dayton, Tidser, Mellor, Poleon, Turner, Bove Decent first eleven and average second eleven but Imho at least seven of the backup team would do okay if needed to start a game. Stick or twist? - I'll stick.
Chaddy_Ender
Yes its a tough one you may be right and Id be happy with just a keeper for back up but have a feeling one or two will come in, one thing im not keen on is a marquee signing some billy big bollocks on a shed load of money may destablise all the good work done to bring the team together. Blue_Guru
LJ says Tidser, Elokobi, Lockwood, Amari, are all a few weeks out injured so that leaves Mellor, Turner, Bove, Dayton, Poleon, Brown... The last 3 are probably the only ones ready to use in a squad rotation to rest key players and as back up for injury in a promotional push... We need cover for Kelly and Jones, Rachubka and Forte IMO

unsworthlatic
Might just be me but I wouldn't bother signing a keeper until such time as Rachubka needs replacing through injury or suspension. It would be a waste of a wage, Coleman or Tyson (if you send coleman out on loan) can step in for the remainder of the game Rachubka has to miss then you go out and bring a loan keeper in until Rachubka is back. That's the way I would do it myself. As for the squad elsewhere, I said to my dad in pre season (he's not keen on pre-season) that I don't think we have a weak link in the squad, one that we can identify as the one who gets slated (we had a few last year) and I stand by that comment nearly 4 months on. If we need to sign players by all means I trust the manager and being in the top 8/10 in January may attract better players, however should we not strengthen I would be happy to see where this current squad would take us!
