Why not introduce a discount card

Recommended Posts

With all this talk about getting fans down to Latics on match days why don't the club try to introduce a discount card? Great idea for Christmas an starting from the 1st of jan till end of season (12 games)

Adults pay £50 for card then £12 per game saving £70 you also then get £25 off a season ticket next season

Over 65's pay £30 for card an £7 per game saving £30 then £15 off season ticket next season

Children pay £25 for card an £6 per game saving £23 then £12.50 off season ticket next season

The problem for me is that you've totally undercut the price season ticket holders have paid - but they've had to commit to a full season.

10 match tickets where you can pick or choose would be a good call. At least I've always believed it would be. Perhaps £150ish?

Great & simple (I think?) idea.

Available anytime pitched a little bit more expensive than the season ticket per game price.

Only downside I can see is some people only doing ten games when they would've done more - but then it's up to the club to make sure they don't want to miss out.

Stick 'em on sale 4 or 5 games into the season. Unreserved seating. No priority access to cup tickets.

If there's a possibility of a sellout a 48 hour priority period to exchange voucher for ticket might be needed. Otherwise just go through turnstile with a voucher. Perhaps make at least one of the ten vouchers valid for a midweek game only.

You'd need to print different books for that if I read it correctly, which would be surprisingly expensive for smallish numbers. Also would be bought by mates who go to less games but would share the saving using several coupons at one game, so hitting on the day sales as well.

I've often thought a 12 month direct debit system could be used for season ticket holders. Would be a more attractive proposition than the zebra option i think. 12 monthly payments of £30 or so for a £350 ST with a £1 a month asmin charge between june and may.

No fancy covers then!

To be honest, why not (if it's priced right)?

If three or four mates use it up over three matches at least they've been to more than one game.

But you can choose to date stamp each voucher with a use by date or only allow detachment at the turnstile for one per game.

Many clubs introduce a half season ticket at the start of the New Year, maybe the ideal time for this, not sure if Latics have done it before though ?

Think your right wasn't there a chrimbo style offer on a couple of seasons ago? I even remembered thinking about getting one too

Another good, simple idea.

I'd do this.

My situation - cricket season overlaps with football season so I'd never get a season ticket but want to go to most home games.

Solution - a simple membership scheme. £20 membership up front for the season.

Benefits? Reduces entry to £20 instead of £22, free Trust membership and a birthday card off Uncle Simon.

Lots of great ideas on this forum. As I have said on here before, let season ticket holders bring a friend for a fiver to some of the low key games. Print vouchers in the season ticket books that can be exchanged for a ticket. It rewards season ticket holders and you never know they may come again and pay full price. Like any product, if it is good they will enjoy it and want more.

Yup.

I do think the 10 match ticket idea gives the fan more flexibility though.

The idea of a half season ticket might appeal this time as fans would be in a prime position to renew their seats for a full season if we go up.

Why print?

Install barcode readers. They are coming eventually anyway.

Peterborough had the barcode readers but still had a guy there pressing the peddle...

Bar code readers won't work here. Tickets have to be bought in advance and it would mean queueing up for ages to get tickets to get into the ground. Rotherham and Chesterfield aren't too bad because the grounds are virtually in the town centre, and easy to get to during the week if people don't drive.
