Diego_Sideburns
The rarely-wrong Chron understands and believes that a strong contender is likely to be ex-Latics Dean Holden, whose contract as player/coach at Walsall expires at the end of the season. http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-features/10/oldham-athletic-news/88780/athletic-lineup-holden-for-coach-role
leeslover
Hope he doesn't bear a grudge against us for the rather :censored:ty treatment he got from some of our fans when he struggled for form after several years of being a steady player for us. Senor_Coconut
Was actually thinking about Deano and the :censored: he got when we lost to Hull away the other day, never really recovered from that
youngen
So long as he isnt our fitness coach as I have seen him twice miss the train I was on after a last minute sprint!
Diego_Sideburns
His most recent memory of our fans was probably a more charitable one at Chesterfield. http://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/news/local/grateful-former-spireite-praises-generous-chesterfield-fc-fans-1-4925286
dannyboy55555
Why would anyone change jobs for a 'substantial drop in salary'??
opinions4u
Why would anyone change jobs for a 'substantial drop in salary'?? If his salary becomes zero in June it might be a good idea to move now. Less travel too.
butchcass
Did anyone else see Fabrice Muamba on 'Gareth Malone's Celebrity Choir' the other night? He was filmed on the touchline at Chapel Road watching Tommy putting our lads through their paces in training. Check it out on I-Player. Why was he there? Either: A: The whole thing was just a set-up by the BBC as they needed any old training ground for him to be filmed at and ours was the nearest/most available or B: He was genuinely watching us train for some reason. I'm 99.99999999999% the answer is 'A' but, what an awesome appointment he would be (although I'm not sure the stress levels of matchdays at SDP would be great for his health). P.S. Just to make it clear, I wasn't watching it, the wife was and she called me in when Latics came on. Honest. oafc_lover
Would be a decent appointment for us in terms of media coverage we'd get, but I always thought he was bobbins as a player! Although everyone says how hard he worked in training, maybe he'd work just as hard as a coach.
beag_teeets
Why would anyone change jobs for a 'substantial drop in salary'?? Better future opportunities, change of direction, to get out of a no-win or less than desirable situation. Lots of reasons.

Muamba goes around to loads of clubs and lectures on several things, especially to youngsters (I think with regards to health and having a back up in case football doesn't work out. Stevie_J
Dean Holden helped me get tickets for the Man City FA Cup game (which he missed through injury), so he's all right in my book.
slystallone
I was pissed, and it's ages ago too - but didn't he flick the bird at a section of our fans at Hull? And he was Captain at that point wasn't he? Anyone who was sober on the day, and still possesses a decent memory, remember what that was all about? Oafc88
This might be a decent appointmet actually (depending how good he turns out). I'm assuming he's still fond of the club and thinks of himself as Latics as it was only in the last season or two he was on the radio, while still coach at Walsall, for GMR commentating on a game of ours (at Colchester I think). He was constantly using words like 'we' and 'us' when talking about Latics at the match or about the club in general. Seems to still have us at heart! longtimeblue
Why would anyone change jobs for a 'substantial drop in salary'?? He's Salford based; so he's probably thinking about the bus fares.
Wozzer
This might be a decent appointmet actually (depending how good he turns out). Really? The decency of his appointment might depend on how good he is. Why have we not thought of this before?
