Will LJ take responsibility for today?

Recommended Posts

Or will he blame his players?

As far as I'm aware he's not spoken yet. It might not be bad thing to avoid a knee jerk reaction so soon after the game given the pressures with his dad being around and that.

Maybe this time, any strong words will stay in the dressing room?

But, if he does speak to the press, I'm very interested to know what he does say after the dust has settled, and how he intends to prepare for the MKD game. He will be in shock today, as the majority of us were.

Experiences like today should help him in the future, but is he shrewd enough now to make the right calls?

Listen to post-match interview on Latics Player. He takes responsibility for himself as manager but also blames some players for not delivering.

LJ tried to be clever yesterday and the game was obviously too big for him but that doesn't make him a bad manager, that was our second league defeat in sixteen matches.

The problem he has is some of the players are very, very average so when the wheels come off we are really going to struggle to get them back on. It doesn't really matter what formation you are playing if Kusunga can't stand goal side when defending or control the ball when last man and we still really don't have a striker and apart from Forte who is going to score after Johnson goes back in January?

Would anyone else prefer it if LJ didn't read and interact on social media? They are often filled with bile, offensive knee jerk reactions from supporters not really equipped to make pertinent tactical comment (I include myself and 90 per cent of fans). The comments are put out there as if they represent the majority of supporters? Ignore much of it LJ and get us back on track. Message boards are great but I'd hate to think the clubs coaches value our opinions really!

Good point. If he listened to message boards last week he'd have changed from the diamond because we've been "found out" and make sure he started kusunga and Dieng because they'd made themselves undroppable!

His tactics put us on the wrong foot but I could tell once we went 2-0 down that some of our players were terrified especially Kusunga who then made the mistake which led to the third. I think it's a little of both, the tactics lost us the game but the poor decisions made by some of the players led to it being a hammering.

What was more worrying yesterday was that knowing he started with the wrong formation (when will he finally get the message that 352 doesn't work for us)

he then stood and watched it for 45 minutes with no attempt to change it.

At least on the other games he started he has quickly changed it around , one game i remember he brought 2 subs on half way through the 1st half ??

Yesterday there was absolutely no attempt to change things around until HT when it was far too late.

Indeed it was more like - Merry Xmas dad and i hope these 3 points save you from the boot !!!!!!!
