From memory its generally in very good condition still at this stage of the season. Although wait till you see the farmers field at Bradford! Thats why its been so good in that time frame. However, i also recall that that technology only has a lifespan of 10 years. That could be why the standard recently has fell dramatically. Before my time but if you look back at pitches from the 1970s/80s there are some absolute mudfields. We're at the end of March. The pitch doesn't need to be a carpet or anything close. True the pitches back in the 70s were in the main terrible, not always the good old days. This pitch has been very good, it just seems to have deteriorated quickly in the last few weeks. oafc1955 Posted March 26, 2015 Share Posted March 26, 2015 Once the frosts come along and protective covers are on and off the pitch is bound to suffer, clearing snow off the pitch several times doesn't help either. Taking into account our geographical position and it being the 2nd highest stadium above sea level in the country we have a great surface to play our football on.
