Sadler and Woodland

Recommended Posts

Cheers.

Both looked decent but I wouldn't be desperate to keep either after the Sheffield United game, especially with Kelly and Mills coming back.

Woodland was seen "walking" away from the ground with a protective boot on after Bristol City. Can't see him playing tomorrow. He may well be doubtful for Sheff U too.

With Forte out I can see us playing Sadler LB and Mills LM, I think Sadler is a good honest pro the kind every club needs.

Woodland has a lot of potential, if Bolton don't want him back for next season I would be interested in seeing if he fancied a longer loan, especially if Kelly leaves

ain't Kelly contracted until 2016?

Sadler's gone back, looking at extending Woodland.

Thought Sadler did a decent job for us. Couple of assists, couple of clean sheets. Can't really ask more from a loanee. Good pro.

Guess the Mills injury not too bad then, unless it's Brown to LB and Wilson back in.

Thought Sadler was very poor. Showed on Saturday when mills came off how much joy they had down our left hand side. League 2 defender at best. Can't believe so many would be happy to see him stay!

He was alright.

No better than alright.

We've had worse LB's but I'd like to think the next manager will have better there once Mills has gone (which will hopefully be some time off).

Yet again though, you can never judge a loanee (unless they're from City)

Decent, bog standard left back.

No requirement for the 'very poor' klaxon here.

If we sold Mills for a nice fee would you be ok with Sadler?

Absolutely not.

He's the absolute bang average left back that gets you 20th position in this league. Assuming we're aiming for Top 6 he isn't good enough.

He's the value version of Grounds and a bigger hoofball merchant than Lockwood.

The gulf in class and ability was so evident when Mills played the first half and Sadler played the second on Saturday.

It's good to keep tabs on Woodland. Wouldn't be surprised if Kelly goes in the summer and while Woodland isn't a like for like swap, he can hold his own at this level already and has potential to get better.

The fact that Sadler wasn't a liability here means that he was exactly what we needed at the time. If Mellor had played at Crewe and Rochdale I doubt we would've kept clean sheets. We could do a lot worse but he wouldn't be worth the wage that an experienced first choice left back usually gets.
