Was wondering that myself....I though it was a 5 year deal with SD.com to include kit supply and Shirt sponsorship.

Front of shirt sponsorship is a term I've never heard used before.

If true it means more income for the club.....bring it on!!

I stumbled upon that page too. I think most, if not all, of the companies in the drop-down list are part of the SD group.

It all makes sense now. Certainly a number of those are SD products such as Lonsdale and Karrimor at the very least.

Pedant :)

Indeed I am but that wasn't my point on this occasion. Have to admire for what Ashley has achieved but it is very much through the use if what were once high quality trusted brands and somehow producing low quality products using them but retaining a small amount of prestige.

An example would be Dunlop which when I took up golf about 40 years ago was arguably one of the premier brands in that sport; certainly its Dunop 65 golf ball had an iconic status. But it was a brand that fell on hard times, I imagine through a lack of investment as it was a small part of a multi-national conglomerate which had bigger fish to fry. Golf equipment produced now using that bnrand is low grade stuff and no semi-serious golfer would tee up one of their balls now - it would be like a professional football club kicking off with a Frido (for those that remember those).

I am sure that the same applies to many other brands that are part of the SD world.
