Article in the Mirror repeatedly refers to him as an Oldham Athletic player. No suggestion in there that we released him. Often we deserve it, but on this occasion we seem to be having our name dragged through the mud unfairly.

Aren't there a couple of popular phrases flying around for this kind of thing at the moment?

Can't see him coming back here after however long he's been out of the professional game

I can. He's also been doing reasonably well away from here (especially taking into account his head would have been all over the place) scored plenty in non league for a winger and won many of motm

When you think about it...we've had Lee Hughes on our books and tried signing, at that time, a convicted rapist and yet we fired off Touhy as quick as we could before any court case or evidence had ever been heard.

Terrell Forbes case didn't read too well either and we signed him a summer later.

I'm pretty sure that we released Tuohy because he was not deemed good enough, not because of the court case...

To be fair Touhy's case doesn't read too well despite the verdict.

It got a lot of coverage on the first day of the trial when the prosecution were going to town on him. They've not reported anything on the defence side of the case, which is bang out of order.

For the jury to chuck it out in less than an hour suggests he's done nothing wrong at all...

Innocent, means exactly that. I just hope he can pick up his life from the floor now.
