HarryBosch
Have the new loan rules had an effect on attendances? Among other things... In previous seasons if we were at or near the bottom of the league we'd have loaned someone which would have generated a bit of (ultimately misplaced) interest and optimism that might have added a few to the gates.... And we might not have been stuck with The Three Jaffa's on long loans firing blanks upfront....... Discuss.....
josh_latics
The last signing that I was genuinely excited for was Dunn. Loan signing? I guess Wellens brought intrigue, but can't remember the last time we signed a loanee and I thought "wow, that's a good one, that'll boost the gates." Our successful loans over the last few seasons (Holloway, Main, Palmer, Harkins, Johnson) have come with little to no reputation. I'm not even sure that had the old rules been in place, Robbo would have brought anyone in yet. He seems to have a lot of (misguided?) faith in the four we have, and I suspect he'd have stuck it out a little longer.
NewBlue
I doubt we'd have loaned a player in by this point in the season. If we're in this position by March or get a new manager then we'll probably have a better indication of how the system has altered the game. boundaryblue80
Yes, they all came flooding through the gates when Matty Palmer was first loaned in
Stevie_J
Loan signings saved us from the drop last season. Obviously, after the end of January, that won't be an option, if we're in the :censored: again this time around.
GlossopLatic
Think a loan signing alone won't get the crowds up however if the loan signing/s improved the team then people will come it's all about results and performances after that everything takes care of itself. Wonder if there will be an exodus of managers from struggling teams in January for that reason from now on
lookersstandandy
...one could argue the constant procession of loanees has an adverse effect on the gates, cos there's no-one to identify with, as one of your own..... which has to be partly why there is an obsession with Carl Winchester..... talent or not.... he has contributed very little in his many years at the club..... Yep. There's no way anybody comes to see a new loanee. There's been such a carousel over the last few years it's become almost normal to have a new name in the squad every week or so. It's :censored:.
Lee Sinnott
I am much happier that we aren't signing players on one month loans every two weeks. It became very tedious...
ChaddySmoker
Can we still go out and get a second Sir Gary Harkins in January or do we have to send 1 of the existing loanees back to do so? (under quota regulations)
oafcmetty
I'm all for the new rules. In fact they should ban loans full stop. Might stop some of the ridiculous hoarding of players by teams at the top too.
ChaddySmoker
I agree but I think it will contribute to our demise this season as we have to wait till January to change anything. From the reports that I hear, the Goalie from Boro is the only one keeping us off zero points. Isnt he the only one because of his position who could be recalled early? Hands on
Undoubtedly the new rules have hindered our progress because Robbo had to grab what he could. I am still in favour of the new rules. I hoped it would lead to a more measured approach to team building and didn't expect Corney to let anyone who was any good go which of course is the main reason why we are bottom of the league. Haven't compared the stats with the same period last year, but the new rules seem to have led to more managerial sackings among relegation threatened clubs this time. yarddog73
Not for us BP, we've only sacked 1 this season compared to 2 at the same time last.
