  1. Past hour
  2. It's a blank page. Is that the club telling us it's a clean sweep of the decks?
  3. What’s your stance on AL time here and the decline ?
  4. Why are we in this mess? How long have you got? It's down to over 30 years of mismanagement and a whole host of other factors. We need to turn that around and i've no issue if we do start acting like billy big bollocks, we might just start playing like it too because accepting of shit has got us exactly where we are. Bradford are the one bigger club in League 2.
  5. Official.. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2024/april/23042023-retained--released-list/
  6. You are of course correct, however, it's a mentality thing. We haven't acted like a bigger club over the last 30 years, we've talked ourselves down, we've been accepting of being an also ran in whatever division we've played in. It needs to change. The players and staff should be standing proud to pull that shirt on and willing to run through brick walls to show what it means. We shouldn't be embarrassed to say we shouldn't be in this division but we need players to go out and prove they shouldn't. It's basically leadership. Keep telling yourself you are shit and this is where we are and this is where you will stay.
  7. Why we in this mess? And who is the one club bigger?
  8. It's so easy to get fans to like you. Genuinely so simple, I don't know why there isn't a single player in the current squad who's actually doing anything. Social media makes it a piece of piss to write a few tweets acknowledging support and saying how buzzing you are to be at Oldham and immediately a good chunk of the fanbase thinks you're a good lad and wants you to do well, so will give you more time/patience than others. Instead there's a whole squad of players who say or do very little outside of their contractual club duties, or in some cases not even that (cough, Norwood, cough). The manager is an odd one as fans loved Sheridan for saying it as it is and not sugarcoating it when it's shit, which is what Mellon is doing and he's being called negative. But you can see that fan criticism is clearly getting to him, particularly if you sit in the Main Stand.
  9. But we are going to seriously decline in fan base this year, biggest club in the league… and we can’t be arsed going because we’re shit. Stockport continued their fan base through the bad times.
  10. But what does it matter who’s “bigger”? There’s no god-given right to a league position. I’ve never really understood this appeal to history as having much value. It certainly hasn’t helped in the last 30 years. I would like my club to be “bigger” based on performances and results. Couldn’t give a damn beyond that. If you mean it as a motivational technique to inspire, fine I guess, but it’s failed the last few decades. And I still see people who think we ought to be winning because of who we were rather than because we’re actually earning it on the pitch.
  11. Repetitive. We could play bingo off the shit you repeat daily/weekly. I made a point that he couldn't play because he was suspended. Strange old man you. Maybe I didn't email you back in a past life
  12. You are correct on some aspects in that a player will nearly always sign for a club in a higher division because they have a short career and they are thinking about the here and now. However, don't think the likes of Wealdstone and Fylde don't give a shit because they do, they see us a scalp and raise their game accordingly. It's down to us to show them we respect them but show them what we are about and make these sides fear us rather than relish coming to BP and getting 3pts. We should also be attracting the best talent available in this division due to the size of the club. Players at National league level should be walking over broken glass to play for us regardless of the wages on offer and if they aren't then frankly we shouldn't be signing them. That's the one thing that annoys me about the Nuttall signing, once he turned us down we should have gone nowhere near him. Also, we aren't just bigger than some clubs in League 2, we are the 2nd biggest without a doubt.
  13. Apologies if this is a live link and it changes but basically Joe Nuttal was quicker and more determined than anyone else. And he'd already had one ruled out.

  15. McGahey must be a stone cold psycho/glutton for punishment, why else would you want to stay at a place you have been abused for three years...?
  16. That's one factor but not the only one. The fact is we didn't get bigger crowds than them, and they have a better side so right now those 2 factors add up to them being a bigger deal than us. If you are a player and you are getting an offer from Oldham and Chesterfield this summer you are picking them. I'd say we are bigger club than a number of those in L2 though as our crowds and history trump the likes of Barrow and Harrogate. Not that any of it matters anyway. The likes of Wealdstone and Fylde couldn't give a shit that we were good 30 years ago. I'd rather hope I get to say I support the smallest club in the Premier league again one day.
  17. Few WhatsApp messages of madri man Mcgahey getting a new deal alongside Fondop that’s it
  18. In fact I believe we are a bigger club than Bournemouth historically
  19. They play in a higher league and are better than Leeds so in your book they must be bigger we might not have bigger crowds than chesterfield this season but we have a far greater fan base. Than them. If we had walked the league like they did we would of got more Than their avg
  20. There is much more than crowds or league position that defines the size of the club. They are obviously part of it but it's history, fanbase overall, perception from football fans nationally and further afield, potential. It's what draws players to sign for certain clubs. I've followed us for over 40 years and i'll never accept playing 2nd fiddle to Chesterfield, Salford, Rochdale or even the likes of Stockport. It's this mindset that has played a part in us being where we are. We keep going further down and then accept that's our level, it's a self fulfilling prophecy. I want someone to lead the club who talks us up, starts acting like we are a big club for this level and the one above and starts dragging people with them. All successful sports teams and individuals have a degree of arrogance about them, it's about time we did.
  21. But Chesterfield are getting bigger crowds than us Bournemouth aren't getting bigger crowds than Leeds
