  1. Just looking at last season. Last year our season ended 29 April. We had the released list by 1 May. I guess it depends on whether decisions are still being made.
  2. It's a difficult decision. The major problem is, I cannot see how we have improved under Mellon. The football is no better than it was under Unsworth in my view and see no sign of those 'incremental' improvements. He complains about players on long contracts, but his recruitment (with the exception of Stones) has (so far) been questionable. However, it is a little unfair to judge, without MM having had an opportunity to recruit over a summer. I think ultimately the board have made their decision and now need to back him. Which I think they will (given they certainly gave Unsworth a fair shake). What is for certain is that the age of this squad needs to come down dramatically, we need pace and we need players who actually play in their positions. Hoping some kids get a run out tomorrow!
  3. Seems a decent signing. All for getting some younger legs in this team. An area of the team that has been lacking for some time. Loan in league one at the start of the season. Seems to have been captaining Forest youth teams. Hopefully a gem we can polish.
  4. Surprising listen that interview. He absolutely should not be digging out individual players, but not to recognise the performance as poor is baffling. There's nothing weak about saying, I made a mistake, the performance was poor and we're going to put this right on Saturday. In fact, its the opposite. Anyway, the important talking will be done on the pitch today!
  5. Swept all their awards last year and played every minute in the league. He'll do for me.
  6. Regan Booty being released (turned down a new contract) by Maidstone. Very much linked to us a few months back.
  7. Lopata released from his Southend contract. Be a good free transfer for someone at this level.
  8. 6 figures and a sell on for a youth player in a conference team is good business. Especially given he only had 6 months left on his contract (he's had quite abit of interest (City, Burnley) and there is nothing to say he would have stayed at Oldham even if he had been played more etc.). Should he have been given more of a chance? Probably. However, I can see how managers may have viewed him as lacking some physicallity (particularly in this league). We get some money and are still invested in his development with a sell-on. The lad gets a good move higher up the league. It's a win win and good luck to him.
  9. Can't fault Frank. He's certainly backed Unsworth with these signings. No excuses now, needs to start picking up some results.
  10. Think his contract is up in the summer. Probably fancies his chances of an EFL team taking him in Jan or most certainly in the summer on a free.
  11. Totally agree. Jobs for the boy(s). Recruitment hasn't been good enough. Not surprisingly if the manager is having such a little say.
  12. With our next three games being: Blackburn, Bradford and Exeter. I can't see us getting anything from that lot.
  13. Sadly, I have the same view. Lack of any detail with the announcement was notable. This was all pre Edmondson too. Would have been nice to see at least part of that fee put into the infrastructure.
  14. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2019/may/03052019-chapel-road/ Few months since this was announced. Be interested to know if this is still being looked into? Or was it just smoke and mirrors. Absolutely something the club needs. Especially if we're losing little Wembley in the near future.
