  1. Didn't seem to have a problem squaring up to FB in the changing room after the home game against Exeter!
  2. If it's an opportunity to bring in late teen talent rather players at the end of their career then it's a "guarded" consideration. The only problem I can see is that of work permits. If free movement ends with Brexit then we may not be able to tap into the French market. We've struggled in the distant past when obscure internationals have rocked up for trials as per Keith Gumbs of St. Kitts. I've never quite worked out how big clubs circumvent the rules.
  3. You bring up a lot of good points. The one area I am unsure about is the youth setup. I don't recall it being a financial success for a few years but having said that was more to do with Corney taking any offer that landed on his desk which included a near useless sell on clause. I would like to think that AL with his past agent experience would drive a harder bargain than his predecessor should someone come in with an offer for Hamer or Edmundson. I'm guessing Premiership clubs trawl the junior leagues and clubs like ours for talent to join their massive academies which leaves us with enthusiastic kids who may or may not be a late bloomer. Should we go down the route of looking at academy cast-offs before they get on a decent wedge...….Gradi and Crewe did that successfully for many years and could work with the right coaching staff which, in itself, is another problem. The downside of shutting our academy down would be another link to the community severed,
  4. Now I'm always open to be educated.....but what is a "full tracksuit wanker"?
  5. Not in the slightest...…..I'm waiting for information to be emailed and I'm bored.
  6. Talking of sh*t: Definition of heartache as stated in Oxford Dictionaries - Emotional anguish or grief, typically caused by the loss or absence of someone loved. But I still don't know what "Heart heartache" is and by the look of your response, neither do you! But as for Latics heartache....you are bang on the mark.
  7. You'll be there....but what is heart heartache? Not being particularly well up on the body but does the heart have a heart to get heartache....perhaps RudeMedic could advise here unless you are a freak of nature...….that's it....you are a freak of nature, question answered!!!
  8. A long, long time ago when the Bear (Darren Beckford) scored the solitary winning goal against them in an FA cup tie at Burnden Park, the Oldham fans were told to stay behind whilst the police could disperse the locals. At 5.30, we boarded our coach with instructions to lie on the floor...….we passed a blue Oldham Transit van, about 200 yards from the ground with a smashed windscreen, and a woman sat on the side of the road with blood pouring from her head, after several Bolton fans "bricked" their van. Sorry (not really)...…..I can live with verbal abuse but that all changes when verbal changes to physical. So, in response to the thought of Bolton going under...…...F^CK 'EM!!!
  9. I have no sympathy...……...lived beyond their means for many years and every year compounded their problems.
  10. I'm trying...….believe me I'm trying......all I'm seeing is an argumentative, indisciplined little sh't sitting in a pram with toys on the floor.
  11. I'm sure there will be plenty of stayaways coming back should we get to the play offs!!!
  12. I reckon they would get a fine and points deduction if they don't fulfill fixtures as happened to Middlesbrough a few years ago, albeit for different reasons (3 point deduction and a £50k fine).
  13. Possibly Iverson was under the GK coach during Bunn's regime and Wilde didn't feel the need to get involved during his first stint but following the Scholes experiment, he may have seen enough and decided to give the whole team a lift. Also, I'm sure during the Scholes period, PW would have reviewed his own performance and looked at what he could do better.
  14. You say my comment is ludicrous, I say you've not been watching the games. My comment is just as insulting as yours. You ask 500 Oldham fans and they don't all have the same opinion on any particular aspect of a game.
  15. We then go back to who would AL have turned to for advice on buying the club in the first instance.
  16. I agree with your thoughts on warranties but how would you calculate the risk? And who would pay? I use them in construction on a project by project basis but that is to indemnify the client should the contractor go under. I don't think the onus should be on the purchaser but on the accountants to provide one. And how many firms would have that level of confidence in themselves to uncover everything.
  17. Would be good but, as others have said before, he's destined to go out on loan to at least a League One club.
  18. So who is to blame? Is it the purchaser for believing a report put in front of him or the person compiling the report?
  19. I say it is credible and the results give my opinion more credence. If I see the goalkeeper coming for more crosses with my own eyes now under Wilde than under Scholes.....on the basis of what can you say I'm wrong?
