  1. Patience often becomes happy clapping - how many other clubs are on a 30 or so year downwards trajectory?
  2. Why this obsession with paying players off? Tell them in no uncertain terms that even though they are under contract, they will not be part of the first team picture next season and they are welcome to go out on loan for the season or seek a permanent move away. Most footballers, despite what we may think, would probably prefer to be playing rather than sidelined doing nowt!
  3. He was noticeably slower (due to injuries) but played a more intelligent game due to his experience - one of my favourite ever players. Pity Joe didn't play him enough.
  4. And a very old Bruce Grobbelaar in goal for us Grimsby Town v Oldham Athletic, 02 May 1998 Score 2-0 to Oldham Athletic Competition League Division 2 Attendance 8,327
  5. http://splitticketing.co.uk/ I don't know if this website will help?
  6. Great post (apart from the f bombs ). There's one other critical thing which you didn't mention. There was a quote from Corney when Sheridan left something along the lines of "I can't blame John for leaving, there's things going on behind the scenes - which I can't reveal - which John knows about"
  7. I'm not disputing it - that's the point it's always been thus, not a new phenomenon
  8. I'm not sure the "brand" is really worth a great deal in reality. Yes longstanding fans know us as being around forever, Joe Royle glory days (gallantly coming runners up to Everton in 1915) etc but if Fleetwood get to the Premier League fans won't be saying they've got no pedigree they will buy into it. For me the price of the brand is negated by the apathy and disillusionment the owners have created in recent years. I think it's largely a myth that United and City eat into our fan base, created by Corney sycophants who look for any excuse other than the blindingly obvious about why the club is on the brink...
  9. Make your mind up, according to our interaction on the other thread all the stayaways (such as myself) are staying away for trivial reasons, but now they need "a lot of convincing" to come back - which suggests the reasons they are staying away are not trivial! Yesterday's away following (less than 700) reminded me of the away game at Town which I think was 09/10 under Sheridan where not only did we batter them but I seem to recall we took well over 2000 as the away end was rammed. You can stick your head in the sand all you like and pooh pooh people's reasons for not going, but that away turnout yesterday was very poor and symptomatic of the club's demise under Corney.
  10. You don't seem to understand many things, however, I'm guessing you're more younger than older so will forgive your intransigence
  11. Even when we were in the old second division for umpteen years, at the start of the season I always believed that the club genuinely wanted promotion - I don't anymore so for me it's a pointless (no pun intended although we have two now!) exercise attending including away games which I have enjoyed more for years being honest. Also, I keep hearing "support your club" but how can I when I know spending money at BP doesn't guarantee all of it going back into the football club. I do find the football generally poor to watch in this division - exciting games are few and far between. Plus I have been living in the East Midlands for the last ten years (I'm back temporarily in Uppermill now but will be buying somewhere local soon) so I could easily think of reasons of why a 4-5 hour round trip tp BP could be subsituted for something different. As alluded to earlier I've largely gone to away games these last few years doing more new southern grounds like your Crawleys, Cheltenhams, Colchesters, Stevenages etc I'm not saying that's me done with Latics, but when you add in the other well documented reasons, I can't return until Corney is gone.
  12. This is the issue - they won't be coming back! I've been a Latics fan for around 40 years and haven't been to a match the last two seasons, not because I'm fickle but because (for the umpteen reasons all well documented) I choose not to go again until Corney is gone and then, there will be a decision to be made. People who label the stayaways as fickle show incredible naivety. It would also be wrong to label everyone who still goes to BP as happy clappers. I fear for the club at the moment unless new owners are found quickly. We're nearing the point of no return.
