  1. Ah right. I'd be coming from Charlton so no need to head into London really!
  2. I'm considering it. Have to admit I'm feeling sheepish about the rain in an uncovered stand!! haha! Where's this pub you're off to?
  3. Recent history sees Millwall in the Championship, with a ground capacity of 20,000. I doubt their FA Cup Final loss was planned, nor has it been too successful for them as it turned out! Of course a cup run has long been seen as a good revenue boost, if it makes me unambitious that I don't think it is realistic Oldham should be aiming for Europe through cup competitions then I'm guilty as charged. It was late last night so maybe not Crewe but the point is we are not disimiliar to the position of so many clubs in this League. I don't remember reading of anyone being content with staying in the bottom of league one as you keep posting. There are a few steps in between our current situtation and Europe, my ambitions are to build an established and stable club, who play attractive football. Yes this means playing at a higher level, by buying players with ambition as we have seen, if you don't achieve, they don't stick around! This will happen any league you're in, which is why having a core of established and loyal players is important. We are building now, albeit slowly but with off the field developments picking up pace, the current ambition is satisfying my way of thinking.
  4. Bored tonight, just read the whole of this thread. There has been some drivel posted, and some very good points. However talked about us being an established Championship side aiming for Europe via the League Cup or being a losing FA Cup finalist? Wow, I want some of your optimism! Fair enough you mention the huge factor of luck in the draw, but even the most established mid-table Premiership sides’ can only dream of such a scenario let alone plan for it! My job means I can't make games for a huge chunk of the season, so after watching us regularly for a few season that all stopped at the end of the last campaign. Attending home games with Moore in charge I remember attending because I didn't want to 'waste' my season ticket rather than looking forward to watch us play. My memories are of us being awful, and for me there is no question we are in better hands and are progressing even if it is 2 steps forward 1 step back with players choosing to move on. With Shez in charge for the next few seasons we do have potential to advance. If it were simple everyone would be a football manager and as many have stated there are only so many half decent players and so many promotion spots! I personally look at the league table and can't help see Leeds and Forest. We have a good record against them, but aren’t on par with or even close in terms of a business or set up. Yet we aren't totally over-shadowed by them. For me supporters of clubs like Huddersfield, Millwall, Crewe and obv Forest and Leeds should have higher expectations than us (not to mention teams like Doncaster and Swansea). I've mentioned more teams there than there are promotion places and I'm not saying I'm happy being stagnant in League One nor am I content with mediocrity but I don't have too many complaints with the clubs current state and ambition. A few more home wins would obviously be welcome, and after our win against Everton, Uefa Cup here we come!!
  5. Right I'm booked! I'll have to get on the 'most wanted' website and see if I can find some mug shots to identify some of you. Either that or I'll stand under the clock with a bunch of flowers or something...
  6. Boy do I wish I'd booked it earlier. About to book it now for £55 unless anyone has a cheaper option!? How's everyone getting from the train to the ground?
  7. Are people booked onto the London train? I've not booked so gonna cost a bit more than £25 now!
  8. Just started on BBC 1. Theres a lad whos topic is Oldham Athletic FC...
  9. Wasn't really suprised by ITVs coverage, totally uninformed. I'm not sure if they actually have a reporter at the all the games, my guess is not! I don't know how the tv coverage works, do they just recieve the highlights a club sends them? If so Millwall have sent them the goals and nothing else and ITV have made their commentry from probably reading Millwalls website. Informed reporting at is's best! I think not. I've never been to Millwall before so maybe it's often like that although reading some Millwall comments Hughes treatment was bad even for them. I am suprised neither Manager and no match reports I've seen so far refer to the fan invasion and objects been thrown at Hughes, not even to condem then behaviour. Okay, those involved don't deserve a mention but brushing it under the carpet seems wrong to me. I can only hope the ref has the bottle to report everything that happened, judging on his performance he probably won't mention a thing. And judging on the wider interest of the game, when the Millwall tape of the game 'goes missing' that'll be the end of it!
  10. Yeh agreed. Although I made the stupid mistake of trying to have a sensible debate with them and have just been told that someone wants to cut my throat. Haven't posted on a forum for years, and never have on opposition boards. However the treatment of hughes and the lack of coverage about it has baffled me.
  11. Looking at Millwall fans comments has really opened a can of worms with Lee Hughes for me. It may be lots of fans have similiar discussions when they play us, but no-one else seems to be so passionate about it as far as I'm aware. The way they talk, the whole of the football world is totally oppossed to him playing proffessional football, but it has hardly made a stir has it?? As for him showing remorse, they obviously say he hasnt and he isnt even allowed to smile when he scores a goal apparently! However I seemed to think he had made peace with anyone involved in the incident but someone posted a statement from a nephew saying quite the opposite, although I guess you can;t please everyone. Forgive me, I guess this was talked about in detail when the signing was made, I want in the country so missed out, and I'd just like to get a bit more clued up after such a strong reaction from the Millwall fans today!
