  2. Tis a strange one re Jonny. He has some decent ability as we saw at the start of his Latics career but recently he's looked Not even half the player. His confidence is shot as is his desire. He's slow to react to the second ball, anything that's low to his left ends up in the net. If what has been said is to believe he's not overly popular in the dressing room. However he has good vision for passes, he's footwork when confident was brilliant and his reaction saves were at times top draw. Maybe keep on as back up. We need a solid shouty Keeper that can organise.
  3. I'm still fuming. Fuming with everything to do with the club, the way it's ran, the players , the overriding feeling that the dressing room is fractured, the seeming ineptitude tactically of the manager. BUT... This is my club. Yes I'll still be very angry for weeks to come. I'll drive past Boundary park as I do every day and be reminded of what's occurred this year and will probably swear. However the frustration, disappointment and anger will ease. I'll still be there next year. I will still follow the transfers and still go to some pre-season games. Who ever is in charge, I'll still support his team. I'll still support OAFC.
  4. I can't see this coming from Wellens. It's too much of a coincidence timing wise just before a big game like tomorrow not to be from something to do with Rochdale. Corney won't come back, he's gone. I can't see Moauche being on 4k a week if he's nowhere near the first team. If a player can waltz into a club and demand 4k a week, surely he'd have the clout to demand a place in the first team ie it would be on his contact to play x amount of games? Omrani and Keremyah have both shown they aren't quite good enough, that's why they havent been playing. We know the training facilities are shit. We know about the players not being paid. We know that Fane was told he won't be training with the first team; do we even know the real reason why? No we don't. For all we know he's done something unprofessional behind the scenes. All in all a shower of shite that isn't worth the paper it's written on. Let's just get behind the team and survive this weekend. If there is a shit storm brewing, it can wait. What happens ON the pitch tomorrow is far more important.
  5. 'Scenes at Sixfields as Jonny Placide's outrageous blasted long ball hits Patrick McEleney square in the face, taking it over the straining David Cornel for his second 'claimed' goal of the season. Latics Gary unzips just as Cornell blasts the ball into the crowd in frustration and hits Gary square in the nuts giving a whole new definition to hitting the wood work'
  6. The more I think about this the more my mind gets tangled. Charlton have a decent record v Dale and wint really want to massively change things as really they still need at least a draw to make sure. The more pessimistic part of me says that they will make changes and will be unsettled. We really must win our game to put all the what if and what not to bed. For our boys it will be almost better than a home game with the noise from our lot. Jeez I hope we don't cock this up. I'm already feeling nervous and it's only Thursday!
  7. I can't see Charlton stepping down their efforts. I can see that Dale will have added pressure of being on T.V. Their form is poor and Charlton's is decent. I don't think our game will be easy but I do think we'll get at least a point there. We need to keep positive and calm. The worst we can do is go in nervy as fuck and stop playing. It's very much in our hands.
  8. What we badly need is Plymouth to beat Scunthorpe on Tuesday. That will mean Charlton will need a victory to ensure a playoff spot and will be looking to score goals at Rochdale as Plymouth and their goal difference is broadly similar. Of course, really the other permutation is for us to pull our finger out and do it ourselves!
  9. Be silly to get rid now before the Northampton game. We need as much stabilty as possible going into that match. I don't think AL will get rid of RW either in summer. All the managerial issues we've had have dumped us where we are now. I think he'll see getting rid of Wellens as counter productive. He's all for laying the foundations to build the club up and I think sacking RW goes against that Ethos.
  10. Acknowledged that AL has said he's not loaded. I just hope he has something to give us a competative edge next year regardless of what division. We've all seen that the wave of AL freebie players hasn't exactly been fruitful. What im alluding to is that we need to be signing players that are tried and tested in the EFL. If he has the means to sign some decent league standard players we will be ok. In my opinion there is a difference between struggling consistently in a division or doing well in one below. I feel that seeing your side play well breeds excitement and interest in what's happening. For me that beats being disappointed that we were promised the earth, yet struggled and play limited football and finish 17th (or lower as the case may be.) If that means doing well in league 2 than seeing us pumped by Southend in League 1, so be it. Sometimes the snake needs to shed it's skin to look healthy again. Or course, my argument is hinged on; 1) Being relegated 2) Actually doing well in league 2 when there. (I realise it's a fragile lament!)
  11. I've been contemplating this over the course of today. If we go down our league attendances for next year will depend on what signings we make over summer and how well said team does in league 2. Naturally, I would think gates will drop slightly after the initial wave of pissed offness hits but if we become successful ie pushing for playoffs or automatic, people will come back and I would say over time, if we are in this position, we'd probably get improved attendances as people want to see Oldham winning games. After so many years of seeing us struggle, people, including myself would be glad of actually seeing a battle at the right end of the table. It'd be interesting to see if attendance figures would be better than in league 1 if we go down but do well. It could of course go the other way and we don't sign the right players and we fall away. The said wave off pissed offness will increase leaving more scope for further disgruntled fans to not return. In essence, it all depends on what happens after the curtain closes on this season and what occurs over close season. It will be a test of AL' s credentials and desire if we do go down. Will he stump up for a squad that someone( *If not RW) can work with to build us back up? It's going to be a very frustrating and difficult wait over the next few months. Having said that, all this could be irrelevant and we will be building for league 1. Either way a very very big few months in our history.
  12. That's not how I thought that would have gone. The numbness I felt coming out if BP tonight was something I've not felt for ages. I'm normally pissed off or delighted. Tonight, the game and result just ebbed away in front of me. Whether it's the lack of battle and fight I see before me or just the disbelief that we seem so far behind other sides. There is no doubt Southend where barely out of 2nd gear. They could have tonked us today be 4 or 5. We seemed so contrived and awkward all game. We did create chances but everytime we shot or crossed, we looked to be stretching and straining. Holloway had two decent chances but scuffed it both times. Doyle looks like he needs a holiday, Davies didn't really do much. Across the board we looked so stiff and bereft of ideas. We are panicking but not turning it into positives. We are panicking and choking and the worst part is, it's far to late to do anything about it. I fear we are relying on individual brilliance from either Nazon and/ or Doyle to score important goals. We are a passenger now. We just have to hope the ride is smooth.
