  1. Actually 1976 so 48 years ago. He did sign again for Forest in 1982 after being at Man Utd for a couple of years.
  2. Sachdev is back at Latics. His return to Sheff Utd was just for 2 U21 matches that they wanted him for.

  4. I've just finished reading Tony Bugby's Latics book. We had the goalkeeper Eddie Hopkinson on our books and he played 3 times in 1951/52. That summer he was out of contract and the club "forgot" to offer him a new one so thinking he wasn't wanted he signed for Bolton. He went on to be their record appearance holder and play 14 times for England. File under great Latics cock ups.

  6. I remember reading that in the late 70's we had agreed a fee with Man City for Brian Kidd only for him to chose to go to Everton at the last minute.
  7. If you include the Hendon match it is no goals from open play in 4 games.
  8. If a player goes on loan he still receives his full salary from the parent club; it's a contract of employment. The parent club will receive a contribution (full or partial) from the borrowing club.

  10. If we wish to sign players from EFL clubs though don't they have to be done during the January transfer window?
  11. I would suggest that Norwood is the least of our problems.
  12. It wasn't all seater when we were in the Premier League, you could still stand in the paddocks.
  13. I think most managers sound good in their first interview. They all churn out the things that supporters want to hear. I even remember thinking Darren Kelly's first interview was good. Shows what I know.
  14. Barry Owen tweeted last night that Bunn's appointment is virtually a done deal but the players want ST. Not sure if he is ITK these days or just talking through his fleece. Make of it what you will.
  15. We also almost didn't get Royle as John Wile was the board's first choice to replace Jimmy Frizzell.
  16. He was on ITV's Big Match Revisited a few weeks ago playing for Latics against Luton.
  17. Personally I don't get the "must have experience at this level" rhetoric. Our two most successful managers in living memory, Jimmy Frizzell and Joe Royle, had no experience of managing at any level. Full stop. To counter my own argument I would also add that some of our worst managers (hello David Unsworth) had no experience, and it showed. So yes, experience is an advantage but I'm not sure it's the be all and end all. Experienced managers can (and do) fail, and rookie managers can (and do fail). Just depends on the manager involved.
