Micah - this week's raising of hopes

"Richards arrived in Florence on Monday morning to undergo a medical before completing his switch to the Serie A outfit.

As part of the agreement, Fiorentina will hold an option to make Richards' move permanent next summer."

So if they don't want him, no money for the Latics?

Every club in the world will have an option to sign him next summer.

Believe Fiorentina have paid 4.5m euros to loan Micah Richards which will rise to 6m euros if they make the signing permanent. #mcfc

Some meat on the bones of that Micah Richards deal. BBC Sport understands Fiorentina paid £3.5m to take the defender on loan for a season and will have to fork out another £4.7m if they want to make the move permanent next summer.

If it's just a loan fee Latics get nothing, but if it's a transfer Latics get should get 20%.

At the end of 12 months if Fiorentina / Richards say 'no' then Latics get zilch.

If Richards joins at the end of the season Latics should get 20% - but is it 20% of 4.5m Euros or 20% of 1.5m Euros?

This needs to be clarified as soon as possible - or this thread could run for another 12 months!!

6m euros if he stays with Fiorentina after his loan spell. It's effectively a transfer fee so we should recoup something. Pretty sure the club will have something so say if we don't.

Chambers was speculating on the proviso that as of this morning it was just a straightforward loan deal, whereas there's now a fee involved.

Fiorentina has basically purchased him for 4.5m on a 10 month contract, he is to all purposes no longer a city player.

Loan, my arse.

Fair point. Why didn't Citeh just transfer Richards for 4.5m Euros, which is just over £3.5m? The additional 1.5m Euros is just under £1.2m, which is nothing to Citeh.

Doesn't look like very much though based on annexe 5.

Ah but basically article 10 states that a loan fee = transfer fee. Therefore we get that sell-on clause. It might take Corney to have some balls and take it to court, but the best employment lawyer in town is an Man U fan, do you think he wouldn't like to take City to the cleaners?

Wouldn't the club take it to the FA first, rather than go to court?
