Moyes, best Utd manager ever I thought!

Many a true word spoken in jest....although seen as a failure in terms of win %, David Moyes' 52.94% was better than Matt Busby and, excluding Fergie, was United’s most successful manager since Ernest Mangnall between 1903 and 1912.

There is a precedent for the current situation with United struggling to find a successful manager after Busby:

Wilf McGuinness

Win % 36.78

Frank O'Farrell

Win % 37.04

Fergie didn’t always get it right:

Massimo Taibi, Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba, David Bellion, Diego Forlan, Juan Sebastian Veron, Alan Smith, Anderson, Gabriel Obertan, Ralph Milne, David Moyes.

That just highlights how much SAF got right; to be fair Forlán had all the talent in the world but just didn't fit in (the right boots).

Been working in Leeds with quite a few Leeds fans, they mentioned him last week and were distinctly underwhelmed

The token Leeds fan in work is seething at this move!

The word from him is all cloak and dagger stuff behind the scenes; that its Benito Carbone who is actually the manager along with the owner. They will be signing the players, working up the deals and contracts, deciding on formations and selections etc.

This Hockaday is apparently a talented "pitch coach" - good with improving players and gelling groups. He will train them, coach them, but have feck all to do with anyhthing else.

Leeds fan at work just cannot see how it will work.

...and neither can I really if that's the case.
