Lancashire 2015

Recommended Posts

At least the games in hand are going relatively OK.

Worcs 94ao Essex 189/4   1pt

Yorks 184ao v Hants            0pts so far.

Earlier I looked at  several sites that said only 1 going down (including the formerly reliable cricinfo), but of course 2 go down.

Practically impossible that Worcs get annihilated this match and recover to annihilate Worcs, AND Lancs recover to beat Hants.
So many defeats and a tie from winnable positions, not mentally strong enough.

Well, sometimes a session or two can change things.

Yorks 184 v Hants 102-6 Yorks 2 pts but hoping for  substantial 1st innings lead.

Worcs  94 v Essex 295-5  Worcs toast.

Yorkshire are destroying Hampshire now. Game over for Lancs.

Worcs down.

If it rains all day, I think Lancs need a max win v Hants, and Yorks only need 2 pts v Worcs. With no rain predicted for  either match.

3rd relegation in 5 years IIRC beckons.

That's after finishing Runners up last season, and being ante post favourites to win it this year in some bookmakers lists.

After doing the hard work with the ball, and gaining the most bowling points of any team , the season has been condensed into a match.  Batting collapse from 123/4 to 273ao missing the max points essential for a survival bid, sees Lancs relegated.

Notts got 2 points, but they are well behind in their game.

It could conceivably end up with Notts staying up on wins.

It remains to be seen if Lancs can take a surgical scalpel to the squad that others have said needs doing.

Surrey all out for 67 and Essex topping 400 int heir dead rubber!

We had a point deducted for slow over rate earlier in the season.

We've just capitulated - again - when in sight of a batting bonus point.

No team in Div 1 has more bowling point than us.

Our top order has been a shambles this season.

Both our football team and cricket county relegated back to back.

We bought a house next to Boundary Park last September. Latics subsequently got relegated.

I got leeslover a Lancashire shirt for our anniversary. Cue Lancashire getting relegated.

It's a crying shame Rangers aren't selling any replica shirts this season, it really is.

Allott and Chapple must be under threat.

Player-wise? Brown and Croft have underperformed for a while, but may do a job in Div 2. Shiv will surely retire. Vilas is far too much famine with the occasional feast. Not convinced Lilley, Lester, Lamb, Jones are good enough.

Hopefully Hameed will come good again, but he's been out of nick for about 2 years now.

Davies, Livingstone, Onions, Bailey, Parkinson, Bohannon and Gleeson then for the core next season. Jennings and Buttler as and when they're free.

I'd stick with Hameed, technique is sound, most probably too much too soon. Should be able to score heavily in div 2.

I agree with pretty much all of that especially re Brown and Croft.

Hameed really has me undecided, I thought he would have done much better this year, as said maybe 2nd Division cricket will help him.

Parkinson and Bohannon have been major pluses and I'm sure are still improving.

Well, change is afoot.

Lilley has gone. Shame he did not really shine, liked him as he was from Ashton and played at Delph& Dobcross.

Yep.... and with Jordan Clark having gone to Surrey, it's gonna be a bit different next season. You'd hope we still have enough to compete..... but we can't continue to carry Hameed if his form continues into the start of next year too.....

Kerrigan and Brown released to add to Lilley, much needed clear out.

Kerrigan is understandable..... a little surprised about Karl Brown, although I appreciate his FC batting average isn't great.

Good article by Athers in Times about Kerrigan a few weeks back;

Not sure there has been much enough of an improvement in the side for Lancs 2019.
Burns for 10 CC games

Maxwell

Gleeson from 2nd bottom Northants

And a smatttering of youths.

Released

Clark

Kerrigan

Brown

Lilley Watt.

Kirikken becomes performance coach.

Middlesex finished 236-9, which we certainly would have taken from 126-1.

We'll know more after we've batted.

Yes indeed.

Hopefully it was a case of getting into the competitive groove.

Middlesex have already played a CC game, so the first innings batting could be tricky.

Never really understood why there are so few pre season friendlies in cricket.
