Ex players and that

Recommended Posts

On the topic of ex-players. What's the best XI of Oldham youth currently still playing that can be made? Have I missed anyone? Better than our current side? I put Eardley in midfield as it seemed a it lightweight.

                                       Coleman

                    Arthur Tarkowski Edmundson

Hamer                                                                C Taylor

                      Winchester Eardley J Taylor

                           Eaves Alessandra

Subs? Emmerson, Gaskell, Millar, Philiskirk, Higginbotham

Even the success of Johnny Smith meets with derision . You have to wonder.

Reckon Josef Fritzl should be applauded for that one time he didn't finger his daughter?

I know what you mean by that, but that's how a lot of football works - having mates in other clubs who will do you a favour with a recommendation or loan at the right time.

Royle and Stott were great at that.

Fair to say that we haven't got those sorts of connections any more, and Barry just got lucky on this one.

Jonny on our mercurial No.10:

He enjoyed the diverse dressing room and singled out one player in particular who impressed him.

“The group was brilliant, every player gets on,” he said.

“The French lads were great with me. Some of them have been there a long time now, three or four years, so they know the club and know what it’s about.

“I really like Mohamed Maouche.

“He’s a very good trainer and very good on a match day. On his day he’s a great player.

“He can really open teams up but is also really competitive and wants to win. He is a top, top pro and I think his time will come.

“He’s very talented and it’s only a matter of time for him.”

That Smith eh - What does he know about football?

At 27 he's at the peak of his career, so if it hasn't happened yet for him when will it?
