robboman
I’d settle for scholes and Ritchie as assistant
Andy b
On what basis would scoles be a good manager. I'd be pissed off if I were wellens
latics22
I'd prob rather stick with wellens. But I suppose scholes will have good contacts and players willing to play for him... it's a tricky one!
Midsblue
Why? Great player but what makes him a better manager than Wellens? If Lemsagam is present at this "interview" then it's nothing more than a wankfest between him and Corney regarding who can link our club to great ex-players. Let's press the flesh on the whim of "selling" the club eh?! Grow some balls the pair of you; appoint Wellens on a one-year contract and back him - IF the money is there - in January. Have the option, in clubs favour, to extend if Wellens does well. If Scholes is serious then use him as an ambassador; supporting Wellens in coaching, opening the door for us signing players, promoting our club off the field. Dont get your hopes up thinking Scholes being interviewed means mega money flooding into the club. If there was money then our local and national journos would have identified by now if there's a story there.
mickjagger
From a club perspective it would be a no brainer , raise the profile of the club more bums on seats, contacts etc etc.

Gaz_Oafc
Moisley: "fuckinell Simon, were getting panned here re. these late wages, we need a distraction" Corney: "give me half an hour.... Hello is that sky sources?"
parigby
BBC also reporting that Scholes has been interviewed.

Nohairdontcare
It'll be Scholes' to turn down. I'd hope it's him with Wellens. I'd be happy with that. I'm also happy with the line from Keegan that the takeover is ongoing.
deyres42
Same people who were all for Seedorf now dead against Scholes, not quite sure how that works.

Seedorf has managed at the top level in Italy. Scholes has managed a side in a pub league that had Conference level money (at least). Midsblue
It could work if Wellens remained as Head Coach as UK based players would love to be coached by Scholes. However could you see him bollocking players? Call them a knob under his breath (great video that) but bollocking?! Nah. I reckon it's nothing more than a meal with yet another famous footballing name who will come out in press tomorrow that he was not interviewed. Correct me if im wrong but Scholes didnt manage the team but him and his mates own salford but they leave it to others to do the management infact wouldnt him owning salford cause a potential conflict of interest. Stainrod
I too would like to see Wellens given a go but let's not go overboard about what he has 'achieved' so far, three wins!! Does that really put him ahead of Paul Scholes who has been involved in coaching at Manchester United, let's get some perspective here. I'd be delighted to see the two of them involved together but as far as club profile and ability to attract players? there's only one winner there. oafc1955
As well as Wellens has performed Scholes coming in to this club is a no brainer. Him and Wellens would be a dream ticket. One of the greatest midfielders of our generation, a local lad and a fan as well. The respect from the players would be immense and having him as manager would raise the profile of the club massively. Players would run through brick walls for him and his list of contacts would be a reason on its own. The fact he’s been interviewed/spoken to seems to suggest this investment is still happening. He might also put a few bob in himself if he comes on board! Edited October 11, 2017 by oafc1955
