That team LJ assembled should have done a lot better than it did. Playing Preston off the park at their place on Sky and losing 2-1. Didn't have a striker that could step up... Adam Rooney away at Walsall;, fairly certain I havent seen a more broken man after his miss from the spot and his sitter in the 90th minute.

Rooney had a massive chance about 2 minutes into his debut at Stevenage, a header. Always feel he'd have been a different player if he'd got that one.

I am surprised we did what we did with only 7 players; that and Rooney being one of them

Stevenage about 5 years ago I think

I had £100 on Latics to win, £50 on latics to win and both to score and £50 on Baxter anytime.  Sat in a bar in Amsterdam, the sky telecaster had frozen on us conceding to go 1 down. It was some night out after I finally got online and saw Baxter had bagged on 87!!!

Loving FB's Pre MK Dons thoughts.  Bright, positive and intelligent.  Not had that for years from a manager.

Agree, Shez is a club legend but perpetually miserable. Wellens started brightly but grated at the end.

and the less said about Robbo’s up lifting “we should be bottom of the league” from week one the better

I have a really good feeling about the coming season and as said before, it'll make a change winning more often of which I can safely say will happen with the current squad and a management team who actually care what goes on

I was proud of the lads that night, not that often you clap off your team when they've lost

Supporters of the favourites to go up not particularly confident... especially in their forwards. The actual Robbie Simpson might start, and become the first of an absolute horde of former Oldham players we're going to come up against this season. They also reckon about 300 in the Chaddy End.

300 - absolute fraud of a club. Still better than the 50 odd they brought a few seasons ago.

I think it was officially 54. That's not even Conference North/South standard. I've seen more away fans at Mangotsfield United in the Southern League Division One West, which I think is the 7th tier.

Need a strong convincing win tomorrow against the League 2 favourites.  Onward and upwards!

They have a decent record on the opening day as opposed to ours with our last win coming a few years ago at Stevenage, positive result tomorrow even a well contested draw would do for me.

How are MK favourites as played utter shite last year. Dont follow whats going on with them but favourites for promotion?

I was thinking the same. they have brought a few in but noone i'd consider a world beater. Decent centre half from Exeter but Robbie Simpson? He wasn't  a regular starter under Tisdale last year.

Anyway that's my considered view. they will probably romp it with 100 points

Agard will score goals at this level, but yes I can only assume it's because they have money and the bookies know it.

Yet they couldn't afford Doyle's wages...

....... and they were interested in giving Wellens the job :petesake:

new manager?

I quite like Tisdale. His appointment, plus they have got a good squad, justifies them being favourites. Personally, like everyone else with a football soul, I hope they crash and burn.

Anyway, i'm looking forward to the new season, which I never thought i'd say after the trauma of relegation. I was so pissed off after 44 years of watching us in the other three divisions. The way we got relegated.....i'm moving on. I'm in the Lowry (yes, i'm roughing it), the champagne is being chilled (I'm a champagne socialist...well, progressive) and i'm ready.

I love you Frankie!

What I’d like it to be

                           Iverson

Dummigan   Clarke  Edmunson   Taylor

                          Missilou

           Gardner    Baxter     Byrne

                   Surridge    Miller

What it will be

                      Iverson

Hunt.     Clarke.   Graham.     Taylor

Nepo.      Missilou.     Gardner.   Branger

              Surridge.     Miller
