I thought this Blackpool myth had be dispelled years ago.

They were awful for the the first 10 games, where they got one win. But they started turning it around October, about the same time we did.

At this point in the season they were 4th, with 12 more points than we currently do and were looking unstoppable.

Here they are during the same season, sitting in 3 points off the playoffs at the start of December, in much better shape than we currently are.

So, when it gets to this point of the season and people say “Will we do a Blackpool?”

The answer is no, because doing a Blackpool doesn’t exist, or at least not in the way Latics fans use it to convince themselves their a still a chance we’ll finish in the playoffs when we’re 10 points adrift in mid Feb.

This.

Now if someone were to have said we could do a Barnsley...

We will only be 12 behind with a better goal difference when we beat them 8-0 in a couple of weeks.

No we won't it will be 6 points as we will have played our games in hand and won them.

We won't even need to beat them 8-0 to catch up the goal difference either.

Play offs are very doable. People do know it’s 3 points for a win right?

Not saying we will do it, but it’s very possible that a team even lower than we are could get in them.

There are 48 points still up for grabs.

Completely agree. Despite being pony for most of the season we’re still in with a shout. That win at the weekend was massive. As has been noted, we have 3 really winnable home games coming up which we really should be looking at 9 points from.

Take that form into the Bury game and you never know.

Awaits 0-1 tomorrow...

Remarkable that Pete's point average was 1.43 ie 65 points for the season and 1.63 would get you a play off place based on last year. He really has looked after things very well considering he lost Surridge and Lyden.

But he didn't pick the team.....
