Bristolatic
Very sad. Sincere condolences to Andy's family and friends. He was a decent player who, I think, could have gone higher in the game.
Chaddy14
Condolences to Andy's family and friends. The team pic reminds of what an attacking and exciting team he was part of! RIP
TheBigDog
R.I.P Andy. He was a skilful and popular player in his time at Latics.
Bobledgersheart
R.I.P. Andy. Probably a bit unfortunate to be around at a time when Latics had an abundance of wingers but nonetheless a tricky dribbler, not afraid to take his full back on and bang a cross over for Big Jim to bury ! Condolences to his family and friends.
cheshireblue
Very sad news, like others have said he was very skilful and was unlucky not to have made more appearances. It was a surprise he didn’t stay in league football longer given his ability.
unsworth blue
So sad about Andy Sweeney, fond memories of a tricky little winger who could beat a man and cross for forwards to get on the end of. heard that he had some medical condition that curtailed his career in his early 30s. Loved him at Latics, as part of one of our golden ages RIP Andy Sweeney
