Mr Bert Lister

Recommended Posts

It really is a very sad day for all Latics' fans. At the age of 67 it was too soon for Bert to go, but at least his suffering was not prolonged. Condolences to his family.

The least I can do it to post a link to the Chron's report of that Boxing Day record victory when Bert scored those famous six goals.

Rest in peace Bert - you'll be able to renew your partnership with Bobby Johnstone.

Suprisingly Bert Lister is one of the older generation of players way before my time i've heard more about than alot of the current crop of 'tics.

Held in high regard by pretty much everyone of a certain age and above.

Hopefully the club will pay him a nice tribute at the Wednesday friendly, or the Swansea game.

R.I.P

A very sad day, whether you saw Bert in his pomp or not. Keep the flying headers going in for the Heaven XI, Bert, 'cos Bobby Johnstone will be putting the crosses in for you.

A minute's applause at the first home game please.

R.I.P. and sincere condolences to all your family.

My heart sank when I saw this -and that's with the knowledge that he'd had a serious heart attack. If there's one thing certain in life - it's death. Bert was an absolute gem, and I'm not sure we all realised it when he left for Spotland. Least of all our manager Les McDowell who Bert (allegedly) had crossed swords with at Citeh. RIP Bert. Bloody Hell, I'm in tears.

Nice one Ted. I used to sing that song too. You brought a tear to my eye.

Rest in Peace Bert and thanks for the memories.
