  1. Agree 100% Steve, thought we were making baby steps but all optimism gone now. At least 4 home performances as bad as yesterday and in every game we have looked like we have fewer players on the pitch than any opposition , no matter how talented they may have been. We are the worst team in or out of possession I have seen this season and its not beyond possibility we may go down again.
  2. best wishes for your hospital visit mate, Latics will still be here for you when you feel able to return
  3. It looks to me that Unsworth's approach so far has been to try and knock everything out of the players and then mould them and rebuild them into a much better version of themselves and try and mould them to a different battling unit. I have not been in the army but this i understand is what happened in yesteryear (maybe same today?). The players look a bit confused as to what they should be doing, they certainly have done since the Wrexham game, Clark addressed the fans when the players came over at Maidenhead and said to one lad "Thanks for the kind words, we are a work-in-progress" (just shows atmosphere not as toxic as some had made out). I keep waiting for the team to ignite and the penny drop and us to blow some opposition away one day, thought yesterday might have been the day after a bright start but we reverted to type and the engine spluttered again. We are all desperate for the players and team to succeed, we all like the sound of the way the club is going off the pitch and the structure being put in place to improve the playing environment - the B team, a coaching staff, conditioning coach etc. The team is coughing and spluttering along at the moment, just waiting for the ignition to send the players into a much better place and then watch the sparks fly........ let it be Tuesday when it all comes together
  4. There certainly was Lee, I think his missus had to leave school 9 days before she was officially allowed, by her DOB she should have had to have done another school term or year... (think thats right). Was plastered all over the newspapers at the time - scandalous in the day
  5. I hope that's the case Chaddy, want to part with my hard earned and get a few of us back in together if possible Decision about whether to do NS or Rocky Road, not that territorial tbh
  6. My son is still banned (for basically being an active member of the PTB) and upon the rescinding of his ban, another 6 or 7 season tickets will be obtained from my family and friends. I was advised that club would issue a statement of sorts in near future - hope its not like one of Bazzers or in same tone as last few seasons'
  7. Fully endorse this view, he is a young man with quite a bit of a career in front of him, hope the news isn't that bad for him
  8. If significant investment can be found from a consortium, consortia or in partnership with government that would be sufficient to buy the ground and land from the landlords, what is envisaged will happen to the 1895 fund?
  9. Sadly confirms what we all probably know and suspect, that this regime are incapable of learning from their multitude of errors in the past and are still completely delusional about their capabilities. Abdallah's regime told us previously that it shouldn't be that hard to get back to League One...... he also promised to keep financially supporting it until it was self sufficient. Just the same old false promises and half arsed and half hearted statements designed to fob off an already alienated support. Embarrassing
  10. Was looking out for them at the Northampton game Flem to show them the way out of BP but there were none in my vicinity! Will be ding same today lol
  11. i have not attended a game all season however I would like to pay credit to the players and coaching staff in paying respects to several fans who sadly died this season. I am aware of several instances where players stood in respect as hearse went past and other instances. Hoping all players and staff and supporters have a good Festive period, Merry Christmas to all
  12. On a similar line to the weekly pledge of match day admission to the Contingency fund (or whatever title we agree on) My thoughts are that I am not prepared to attend a game at BP until ALMO go or at least until they change course and start effectively engaging with supporters* (* suggest won't happen so its till they go). I am saving the money that I would have paid for my season ticket (£250) for 2021/22 season and am currently looking to donate this after the season has ended assuming ALMO still in situ. If they left in season, I would go ahead and purchase a season ticket for remainder of the season so would want to retain that option until ALMO have gone. I was also considering adding admission monies from away matches that I would normally attend (Dale, Salford, Sutton, Orient, Brentford, Harrogate, Sunderland and maybe others that I have not listed), say £20 per game as I am not currently attending in case I get hooked again and am not prepared to get hooked until ALMO go. I am not sure how many fans are choosing not to attend BP but I suspect that its possibly along the lines of a few hundred. If fans could be persuaded to donate what they would have paid for their season tickets to an organisation like OASF then I am sure the fund would grow quite significantly. I was wondering if 500 fans would donate £250 season ticket money that would be £125,000 If 1000 fans would donate would be £250,000. Equally if fans could be persuaded to donate match day admission costs from revenue saved by not attending, say £20 a game, then 1000 donations @£20 would give a nice little £20,000 towards the fund. I was disappointed that the pledges on the OASF forum appear to be just various £s and not promoted as Season ticket or Match Day revenue donations as this would feel help focus fans on what their sacrifices (and I seriously mean that, i know from myself and others choosing not to attend how difficult a choice it is) are going to contribute towards. Be interested to hear others' opinions on said suggestions
  13. I was there, attended every home and away game that season, had to wag school that afternoon and ended up having to deposit the school Head Boy in a stream in a park near school as he caught me on way to wagging it. Think the crowd was about 1800, possibly 500 from both Brighton and Oldham and remainder were curious Leicester fans. Kenny Jones (an old Latics stalwart) did a one-man pitch invasion when we went 2-1 up and someone from our Barlows coach missed it after the game as he wouldn't "run the gauntlet" through Brighton fans at the end and so missed the return journey. Heady days in the League cup
  14. I was thinking a while ago maybe we could have a digital Boundary Park (any capacity - start with current one) and then may be a contribution of £1 a fan, try to fill it with names of people who you know have graced the Chaddy End or any other park of the ground since time immemorial. For my part, I could be with my granddad (RIP), my uncle (RIP), my brother (RIP), my cousin, my son, my son's fiancee & my son's fiancee's sister all in the same row - 8 of us in total, none of whom currently attend. I would happily part with £8 for this to start filling up the stand. A bit like the bricks on the walls of the North Stand (I have got mine and my son's there but these were £50 a throw), but at an affordable level. Maybe worth a dabble?
  15. He was dealt a shocking hand, had 5 players signed up (including Conor Brown) and only 4 weeks to both recruit and knit a team together. I went to Millwall first game of that season where we lost 3-0 and Jamie Reckord got injured after 10 seconds, Cameron Burgess scythed down a Millwall striker for a penalty after 4 minutes and but for Conor Ripley, we would have lost by 15!!! Spoke to a Millwall fan afterwards who asked why we were so bad, my response was "Our longest serving player on the pitch" was Law and he has been with us 28 days!!!". We actually managed to beat Wigan in League Cup on Tuesday - sadly think that was the day when Abdallah saw us and allegedly fell in love with us! He could only get a team to compete (which he did), all the best players were gone by then and I am sure his budget was minimal, he wasn't helped by highly rated Freddie Ladapo & Lee Erwin failing to fire so a lot of 0-0 draws rather than maybe 1-0 wins. By January, had to go, bring Shez in, a few resources and a team that should have been dead and buried quality wise stayed up. I would have Robinson back if there was the option (not under Lemmies), did a good job at Northern Ireland and a perfectly decent man. If he had had anything like a chance, I reckon he would have done much better for Latics Good luck Steve Robinson at Morecambe
  16. Yes I thought that they had lost another apart from those listed but going through the teams, couldn't find it, yes Hull 1-0 at Boothferry Park. Think Villa's improvement started with a 3-0 win at BP in the FA Cup in January, they had won with a last minute goal from Ray Graydon in October after having John Gidman sent off but they were a bit fortunate if memory serves me correctly, in the FA Cup they pulverised us. Went to Villa towards end of season when we lost 5-0, only cheer that day was Chris Ogden saving a penalty from Brian Little. Funnily enough, think that was the day when I thought "Latics is my team forever, come what may" even though had always supported them since being 8 - there was a banner "One of Oldham's Chosen Few" which I saw in a service station and think it was same banner in Whitton End about 3/4 of way up even though we were 4 or 5 down at the time and end was full of Villa. Thought that's me - one of Oldham's chosen few, Still am, as are most on this board I am sure
  17. I hope so mate, used to love it (still do) when United or City got beat - used to know who beat them, who scored, the scorers NI number etc etc. but as I grow older, these facts are maybe not as important as they once were. Hoping to get back to a few away games soon mate, hopefully have a few scoops with you soon
  18. They lost 7 I think - I took massive pleasure every time they lost Lost to Bristol City (twice), Oldham, Oxford, Norwich, Villa (i think) at least, cannot recall the other one but I am sure there was another We got done at OT - Macari punched his over the line and we were denied a blatant penalty into the scoreboard end when Alan Young had got goal side of their defence, Sammy Mac barged him in the back and both players rolled off the pitch into the fencing and referee awarded free kick to United - unbelievable at anywhere bar OT
  19. I missed this one as was not born until 6 days later. My grandad and uncle though who introduced me to Latics a few years later told me that some Liverpool fans had broken into the Chaddy End in the morning of the game and painted the posts black for some reason - can anyone recall this? RIP Ian St John, loved the Saint & Greavsie show, actually met the Saint coming back on the train from Brighton in 1978/79 (we lost 0-1) where he had been watching us in his capacity as a coach for Sheffield Wednesday, can't recall who he had been watching but think it might have been one of theirs. he was a nice fella to talk to.
  20. I went to that game, can't recall much about it other than we lost 1-0 but think the crowd was around 10,000
  21. Holy Moly - Mike Jones has scored for Barrow against Bolton - 2-0 in 4 minutes, both ex Latics players scoring
