May I first of all say, I don't post much but read a lot and I'm totally disillusioned at the present time.
I started following OAFC 45 years ago when I got married to Barbara and we moved from Droylsden to Shaw.
It was a very exciting and interesting time and as my family and business interests flourished we then moved back to the North Manchester area but I had been bitten by the bug, and OAFC was in my blood, I encouraged my wife and my 2x boys to follow the Blues at every opportunity we could.
We became both sponsors and ardent club followers of Latics, we went through the ups and down that this brings you to the heights of promotion, the Premier greed years, Wembley we did it all home and away.
Then came the lows relegation down the divisions, the Chris Moore era both good and bad, administration and bucket collecting we did it all. Then along comes my pal Sean and his pound coin with Neil Joy and we all rallied round because OAFC is our club not just the wim of somebody who has a bit of money or see's a way of making a fast dollar.
The 3x Amigo's appeared on the scene and invested in our little club but some very bad management decisions we're made and eventually after lot's and lot's of battles with the council, the housing crash it all fell apart and two of the saviours left the club in limbo taking their ball and bat with them but leaving their gofer as chairman with very limited support.
We carried on sponsoring and supporting the club to a very high level, it all started going sour for me about 4x years ago when Barbara was diagnosed with MND, but we carried on going to the games with her in her wheelchair slowly disintegrating away in front of our eyes, we'd sponsored Jean Yves M'Voto that year and he actually came to the house to see Barbara in these last days and she loved it, such a smile to lighten up the start of the dark days. In August she passed on and to me it seemed the doom of Oldham everything has gone downhill since then, I'm not blaming anybody but where are we now:-
The local circus act, manager after manager. Bad decisions all round, poor management and even poorer results. I'm now at my wits end with supporting the club I've loved for the last 45 years. I'm now moving to Worcester to follow my heart and my new life, but I still read the internet and I'm on Latics PlayerHD I even still try to go to as many home and away games as possible, but I'm totally disillusioned by what's happening, so could we be given some answers please.
Simon Corney - please tell us what you are trying to achieve at the moment, is your heart still in the club if not move on and let others try and bring our little club back to life and Simon please don't bring Barry into any more major decisions, a puppet for you he may be but unfortunately the majority of fans hate him for one reason or another and he only upsets people with his blunt attitude.
Finally, a statement of the clubs intentions would be good, silence isn't always golden unlike the latter years of my life.
