  1. if that system was up and running and there was a suitable drop-off/pick up point nearby, then yes it offers a good solution if the congestion charge was brought in!
  2. Bit personal? if she was old enough to use a bus on her own i dont think id be having this debate with you in the first place, she's only 7! also there wouldnt be one of those yellow busses come up to our house anyway as no one from her class or school live in the area! i think il leave it there now oafc0000!
  3. apart from the post earlier where i gave you the facts and figures of how it harmed londons businesses in the congestion zone. but thats fine, and my opinion isnt just based on how it will harm any business. Like i said, its going to affect my younger sisters education, she might not do as well as she's currently doing if he has to move schools. Im probably so against it because its going to affect me and my family in a negative way. i cant help but think, what happens once this loan (to improve the transport) is repaid, where does the money go then?
  4. Cos my oppinion is, businesses will be affected. But like you said, your planning ahead and hope to profit from it. not all will be lucky!
  5. Just to try and see it from your view being a business owner in Manchester. Coz i thought you’d be of the opposite view.
  6. oafc0000 can i ask who your ''target customer'' is if that makes sense... who do you sell to?
  7. it will affect businesses and big stores too, as it did in london, a few examples: :Shops and businesses are reported to be heavily affected by the charge, both in terms of lost sales due to reduced traffic and increased delivery costs, as recognised by the London Chamber of Commerce. :In August 2003, the John Lewis Partnership announced that in the first six months of the charge's operation, sales at their Oxford Street store fell by 7.3% :another report stated that there had been a reduction in some employment in the charging zone. :A report in May 2005 stated that the number of shoppers had declined by 7% year-on-year in March, 8% in April and 11% in the first two weeks of May. :At the same time a London Chamber of Commerce report indicated that 25% of businesses were planning on relocation following the charges introduction :The Centre for Economics and Business Research predicted that the West London extension in February 2007 would cause 6,000 job losses :In May 2007, a survey of 150 local businesses stated they had seen an average drop in business of 25% following the introduction of the charge.
  8. For how long though? as soon as the public votes yes and the government/council get that vote, they change it how they like! I bet you after 2-3 years its an all day charge, a bigger zone and a bigger charge!
  9. ''Even if you don’t drive, additional costs to business will be passed on to you through shops, pubs and other outlets.'' - as found in london, damaging a lot of small businesses not just through loss of sales due to increased prices, but due to increased delivery costs ect.
  10. ahh you see, i said it wont reduce the traffic in the city centre, where the traffic needs to be reduced the most. because there will always be busieness men who can either afford it or who's companys will pay it! what it will do is reduce the traffic in the ''outter zones'' which wont really make a difference to anyone anyway! Also, what happened in london after two years was they increased the price of the congestion zone by 60% and area by 50%, and many north west councils inc. OLDHAM refer to possible future charging schemes.
  11. My parents would have to pay it to take my younger sisters to school, and would have to pay if they continued to attend after school clubs (and as such are considering changing her school, but why should they??). My girlfriend would have to pay to drive to and from my house and me likewise to her house and we live no where near the city centre! Its a Joke, and it WONT reduce the traffic in manchester city centre! just another way for the government to raise money through motorists yet again, there just crooks. http://www.stopthecharge.co.uk/
  12. Even if we did get promoted, its not a given that he will definitely stay. We might be in a position to offer him a new 6k per week contract, but what’s to say your more established championship club with bigger crowds ect. Won’t take a chance and offer him 10k p/w? and what if we did turn it down and we didn’t go up? Its hard for us to say we'd rather turn the money down and have a crack at promotion, but it’s not our money were gambling with. TTA have had there fingers burnt once with Porter so I wouldn’t blame them if they did decide to 'cash in'.
  13. I cant see doncaster having 400k to spend. They have just taken Steve Brooker on loan with a fee agreed for January! Plus they are already 5 points from safety, and looking favorites to go down, so would they want to be taking on 33 year olds on decent contracts, and would hughes want to go to doncaster with a good chance of em coming back down in a few months time, when he could just wait to see what the situation is at end of season and get at least a season with us, or a few good offers from other clubs.
  14. Yeah we have a 30% sell on clause on him
  15. If we sack shez before end of season, we wont get promoted. If we don’t get promoted it means lower crowds and even less of an already lower budget for next season. Because of our low crowds, low budget, low transfer funds and high demands of your boothroyds, dowies or any decent manager contracted to another club it means that option will be out the window. Any 'cheap option manager' that would come in would have a small budget and probably not be able to keep many of the 11 or 12 (i think) out of contract players for next season, and not have much money to replace them. And all that means most of the people on here calling for shez's head, will be on here moaning again next season cos were not top of the league, playing attractive football and have a chance of getting promoted.
  16. Whats the bet that the 'Oldham Football Intelligence Unit ' got their 'Intelligence' from this thread?
  17. Dont know if anyone will be able to help me with LW. I cant use the audio commentary, when i click on the tab to open the live commentry (eg. yesterday oldham away at northampton) it tries to open the page but comes up with 'internet explorer is unable to open web page' (as if im not connected to internet). i can watch all the interviews, match highlights and video's ect. just the audio commentary i have a problem with.
  18. (Taken from a Doncaster forum) He said on an interview on Doncaster’s local radio, that he doesn't fit into the Doncaster squad, and admits that he found Sean O Driscoll’s tactics difficult to embrace, going against his natural instincts and his years of playing. The reporter was also of the view that it's highly unlikely that Byfield will return to the Keepmoat. Who thinks Byfield will be part of a player + cash offer for Taylor in Jan?
  19. But what’s £250k to them if his goals get em into Europe? they know there going to loose him, its just whether they cash in and miss out on his goals and possibly a European place, or keep him and risk injury or his form going out the window coz he knows he's moving clubs in a few months. Sounds like McGhee's ready to cash in
  20. Not eligible for F.A Cup, so cant see it being a permanent move in Jan
  21. That Jones mentioned in the chron is on loan at huddersfield at the moment
  22. Theres at least two other clubs talking to Byfield, and one of them was infront of us in negotiations (although i dont know if thats still the case), It also depends on when/if Doncaster bring in a replacement - is what i was told last night. Fits in with what Lordy said with the 50% chance of us getting him.
  23. Anyone get the feeling Jones was the defender Shez mentioned after the Yeovil game?... maybe we were just after extending the deal rather than getting a new one in?
  24. This is about as believable as the Darius Vassell to Doncaster one i heard yesterday.
