Hopefully we're getting someone where we can all think "yes, this is the man" and support him even when things aren't going well...
Don't get your hopes up.

Micky Mellon now 1/8
Some movement on Lee Bowyer, in to 12/1 2nd fav. (Getting mistaken for Gary?)

Because he’s a dour character and his teams carry a reputation of both playing unattractive football and neglecting younger players, which seems at odds with the aims of the people running the club
I'd like to try and win and do it with some style.
I read an article the other day that suggested Mellon's football was free flowing, lots of goals and got fans on the edge of their seats.
Granted it was an old article and I've no idea how accurate it was but I've read a few people say similar to you?
I suppose it could be similar to Shez in the fact that his style changed over the years?

Faking Bradford's interest to the press in the hope it got them the job clearly didn't work then!

Thompson to be announced tomorrow...
Still 4/6 on betvictor for anyone wanting a little dabble

Any players coming in now have to be better than what we have, which in some positions won't be hard to achieve.
A substitute left back when we can only name 5 subs is an absolute waste of time and money.
If Kitching needs covering for a suspension then I'd rather put Dickenson at wing back. If it's an injury then look to bring someone in by all means.

I'd be disappointed if Thompson got it. Would be a very unambitious move. I'd be happy for him to stay on as assistant, but we need fresh ideas from outside the club. Tell Redfearn "thanks, but no thanks..."
You not heard anything?
I reckon Thompson's got it. There's been a few quid put on him in the last couple of hours...

Think the Bunn rumours were started by the Barry/Fake Barry twitter account.
Can't find the account now but I'm sure he tweeted last night that player power had won the day and that Bunn now won't be appointed (which hints that Thompson will be appointed based on his previous)

I agree. As long as the decision is made before next Saturday then 3 weeks seems perfectly reasonable.
I thought folk wanted a thorough application and interview process? Now apparently the board are fucking around. Couldn’t make it up.
If tonight's rumours are to be believed*, then I very much doubt thats happened. It sounds very much like a phonecall to an old friend.
* it could of course, be complete bollocks.

Why would Bunn be bad?
Why would he be good?
He's got an almost identical post playing career record as Unsworth.
If he didn't have the Latics link, there'd be riots if we appointed him.

Yes saw the picture with Joe, surely just two pals .
I mean... Unsworth was a 'Pal'

Whoever it is that pretends to be Barry Owen on twitter reckons Frankie Bunn set for the job.
I was walking up sheepfoot lane behind a bloke who was saying Thompson is being announced as permanent manager on Monday and that no other interviews had taken place...
I've no idea if either of the above are true but personally I wouldn't choose either option.

Probably something to do with ST and Redders being linked with the Bradford job
https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/bradford-neil-refearn-mark-hughes-31122582
"Redders, get your agent to drop a cheeky hint to the star about us being in the frame for the Bradford job, it should pressure them to giving us the Oldham gig full time"
Key bit of that article for me is:
The duo could be given the job full-time if the Latics beat Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.
probably why we haven't seen any sightings of potential candidates watching our games.

ITK?
I wish I was, but Reid regularly goes live on social media and last night said that he was definitely starting tonight.

Reid's 100% starting
He also said he thinks Freeman and Tollitt will be involved in some capacity.

Got mine. I apologise in advance to any season ticket holders who miss out.

That is a shame, bit surprised given their downward trajectory. I honestly think we're a better prospect than Cheltenham, maybe location has played a part. If we are running a proper process there would be no guarantees so that could also be a factor. He may never have been interested in the Oldham job, who knows?
I know we're f*cking massive, but any self respecting manager would back themselves to turn the downward trajectory of a Lg1 club into an upward one.
FWIW I would have had Clarke as my first choice based on the names banded about but plenty of other good candidates around.

Hopefully very slim
I'll take that as you'll get me a couple when they go on sale to ST holders then.
Really appreciate it, cheers!!

Just realised I'll be in Poulton-le-Fylde when we play Fylde away on the Tuesday night after Rochdale... What are the chances I'll get a ticket for that as a non-season ticket holder after this debacle?

Previously done bird for fraud.
Messed Ilkeston about.
Tried (and failed) to cut a deal with Steve Dale to buy Bury.
Made even more of a mess of Scunny and has now pulled the plug and dropped them right in the shit.
Sounds like a diamond geezer.

Came across this one recently La-a
(Ladasha)
Funnily enough, I've dealt with a La-a in a previous job, can't be many of them around?
Tilesmach dekarpet was a personal favourite.

Completely random one... but listening to Brooke Vincent talking on the radio the last few journeys home.... I never knew former loanee Kean Bryan's first name was pronounced Kee-ann (as in Leanne)...
Told you it was a random one.

I'm presuming he feels they may be swaying towards a new man given him going all in during the post match interview yesterday, if it was Mellon, Clarke or Williamson I'd still favour one of those three. If it was Clemence or someone else wanting their first go at it I'd be disappointed. He's done himself no harm but if he continues to keep selecting Shelton and Nuttall I'd begin to get worried.
Agree with this.
Pedigree as a preference but if it's anyone that's new to management then Thompson til the end of the season then reassess.
