  1. Been a while since I posted here but couldn't let such tragic news pass without comment. Gordon was a great friend to myself and the various lads who travelled from Edinburgh to watch the Latics, he welcomed us on a tour around 2003 where we captured his enthusiasm and commitment to the club within seconds. From that moment a great friendship was born and everytime we went to a match we met with Gordon and on occasion Lorriane, nothing was ever a problem to Gordon it's fair to say he looked after us on occasion due to our outpost for obtaining tickets etc......there was always a nice bottle of malt whisky in return for his "over and above" help. I was delighted that he met both my kids when down last summer and he didn't hesitate in showing them round the main stand and gifting them programmes etc. Also a keen Speedway fan - a passion we also shared. Sleep easy my big pal. You are and always will be an OAFC legend.
  2. The Chron only latched on to Shabba (Csaba) as I requested odds on him from Victor Chandler so they listed him, I fancied him for the Plymouth job so rather than tip them the wink I asked for odds on him for all the available jobs to ensure they didn't cut him short at Argyle. Would do a decent job but attendances would be far worse than with Penney, he only knows 4-5-1 and craves a 0-0 every match, the Hearts fans were booing every week at his tactics and only won 2 league games by more than 1 goal in the whole 18 months he was with us.
  3. Very sorry to be reading this post Chaddy / Wayne! You have always entertained me on my jaunts to BP and ur a top bloke into the bargain! I had only been telling the guys at work about "the best mascot i'd ever seen" last week and they all wanted to know what antics you were up to after the Trannies game! You've left a huge void to fill...... See you behind the goals mate!
  4. Isn't the League Cup aleways seeded? This would rule out most of the above suggestions. Not sure where the cut off point would be for seeded / non seeded but more than likely it'a around half way point in last season's championship table. Newcastle / Sunderland away will do for me ;-)

  8. Unbelievable mate, i stay off Lochend Road! Was driving down Lochend Road one day with a mate and as we appraoched the bottom a guy was walking up with blue shirt on (Hibs were playing Cardiff later that day) as we drove past my mate I just looked at each other and said at the same time "that guy had a f**king Latics top on!" - that must have been you bud!!! Small small world! Defo catch up sometime mate....stunned there is another Latics fan in Lochend!!!!
  9. I remem the day very well.....I must have been 6 years old (1986) and sticking Panini stickers into the album. It was the days when each English Div 1 team got a double page, Scottish teams got a single page and the lower league teams got a team picture only. I was sticking in the Latics team picture when my Grandad mentioned that Oldham were the team Andy Goram played for. I had previously been "Andy Goram" in a kick around with my Grandad in the back garden. From that day it was Hearts and Latics with me following their progress through the papers until I passed my driving test in 1999 when I was able to start going to some games. I've managed to get a few mates (We've got 8 members who have been to games) along to BP and a few away games too - everyone of them has been at least once although the 3 regulars rarely change - Craig (Newse), Cammy and myself.
  10. Near Easter Road believe it or not! The quiet surburb of Hermitage Park. Ah, I used to live in Leith, before moving out to the Borders. K bud. Not sure if you've seen Leith in the last few years but it's certainly taken a good few steps in the right direction. Commercial street is now trendy bars, restaurants and town houses...changed days or wot!

  13. Name: Stevie Gilroy Occupation: Marketing for Royal Mail Location: Edinburgh How long a supporter: Since 1986 Favourite Game: Beating Walsall 5-3 in August 2004, 4 of us had came down from Edinburgh and bought seats in the sponsors lounge. We drunk the bar of out Vodka before the game started and the sight of the 4 of us banging the suite windows when Latics went 4-3 up will live with me forever! Man City was kinda cool as well.........;-) Favourite Moment: Scoring the first ever goal in the annual fans fixture at BP. Notched the first and last goal that night in a 7-5 win for the home Blues! All time greats: Andy Goram & Neil Pointon. Goram was the main reason for getting into Latics, he was in the Scotland squad around 1985-86 and I thought he was the best keeper ever! Being a diehard Hearts fan I was gutted when he signed for the vermin (Hibs). Neil Pointon was a recent favourite due to the committment he showed, watched him playing for both my teams and rarely seen him put a foot wrong! Caught up with him in an Edinburgh bar a few months back - top guy! Favourite Currents: Gary McDonald, Will Haining & Andy Liddell. The tartan trio. Finish: Champions - got £25ew at 20s so here's hoping! Biggest Rival: Tranmere - only been to Prenton once but they really got on my t1ts. Shower of manky kn0b ends. And Finally, You became a millionaire, Oldham were available to purchase, what would you do to make our club Secure for the future? Building the new stadium in Edinburgh probably wouldn' make us too secure so I'll need to go for a state of the art youth academy with teaching facilites, halls of residence, all the correct food people etc so our young talent were at the club 24/7.
