  1. Kia Ora I left Oldham for New Zealand in July 2011 to start a new life with my missus & kids. So far so good but the one thing I do miss is watching Latics especially the Cup runs. I started watching Latics as a kid in the 70's when my Dad & my Grandad used to take me and my brother. My first hero was Alan Groves, Simon Stainrod and Andy Ritchie being the others. I have watched through thick & thin (mainly thin) and so it felt like I had a part of me ripped out when I left. My last appearance was also Paul Dickov’s v MK Mongs at home, thankfully I have happier memories than that game to look back on. I’ve been back since to BP 0-1 v Burton & 1-1 v Rochdale. I look forward to watching highlights on the official fb page but it’s difficult trying to see goal highlights on websites such as the BBC or Sky Sports as we cannot view them here. Still not seen Pete Wild on MOTD after Fulham, please could someone put it on Youtube? One day back in November 2012 I was wondering how many other Latics fans there are exiled down under in Australia or New Zealand? With that in mind and whilst playing around with PaintShop creating my profile image I decided to form LANZAC - Latics Australia & New Zealand Appreciation Club (catchy eh?) I thought maybe if there was enough of us we could make it more official? or be a sub branch of OASIS or something? There were quite a few of us I recall but I never got round to doing anything about it, so as it stands I’m the only member! If anyone has any ideas how to get this going again let us know, that would be Awesome! as we say here.
  2. Normally No News is Good News but this is terrible news. Feel devastated for all the staff, the Chron was an institution. As a long distance fan & exile I read it everyday online so can't imagine life without it. The only small crumb of comfort 'Sadly' is that Ibby or is it MFC or is it Faraz Khan won't be able to post his incoherent ramblings 'Sadly' after every article.
  3. There doesn't appear to be any interest from the Chinese Investor Chi Ching so maybe the Chairman should consider following Basingstoke's lead by trying to sell Latics on eBay, See http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/38227594 The Ebay auction to buy the non-league club starts at 99p although we might struggle to meet that sort of reserve.
  4. Supporting Latics is usually full of some disaster or despair or disappointment so if you could consign them all to Room 101 who or what would you put in there? I will start things off, I've not really thought about it that much but here goes. My hero Alan Groves sold to Blackpool My replacement hero Simon Stainrod sold to QPR Keith Edwards That goal at Wembley in 1994 The ex-boss of Torex The Play Offs Barry Owen Mark Robins Graeme Sharp Darren Kelly Big Clubs (like Barnsley & Notts County) Budgets UEFA Badges
  5. I don't think Aaron Holloway has a criminal record but Barry Owen will be happy, if we couldn't sign a convict then the next best thing is someone named after a prison
  6. How soon will we be able to bang our heads against the wall?
  7. Is this thread about the players or the supporters?
  8. Wow time flies, can't believe it's 25 years ago to the day 29th April 1990 since we lost to Nottingham Forest at Wembley in the Littlewoods League Cup Final. I will never forget that day, one of the proudest moments of my life especially when big Joe led the team out onto the hallowed turf.
  9. Sadly I can't be there today to give him dogs abuse as I'm on the other side of the world but what about singing the chorus bit from Gloria Gaynor's 'I will survive' Go on now go walk out the door just turn around now 'cause you're not welcome anymore weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye Did you think I'd crumble Did you think I'd lay down and die Oh no, not I I will survive Oh as long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive I've got all my life to live I've got all my love to give and I'll survive I will survive (hey-hey)
  10. Great result on the back of what has happened in the last few days at a bogey ground where we never win. I wasn't convinced with Dean Holden at first but having listened to him, I'm changing my mind, he knows the club and is passionate about it. Maybe he could be the man if he gets a good run of results? #teamgonedreamgone
  11. ......and there goes the final whistle, amazing scenes here, an incredible game and an incredible performance...... .........Stan Boardman, Cilla Black, Melanie Chisholm, Ken Dodd, John Bishop, Bobby Grant, The La's, Jimmy Corkhill, Robbie Fowler, Derek Hatton, Holly Johnson, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Steve McManaman, Tom O'connor, Jimmy Tarbuck, Kenny Dalglish, Atomic Kitten, Freddie Starr, Yosser Hughes, Sonia, Paul O'Grady, Ted Robbins, Jim Royle, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Echo & the Bunnymen, Gerry & the Pacemakers.....Your Boys took one hell of a beating!
  12. If the season starts tomorrow does that mean we have to wait another ten games before we can judge him?
  13. Mr Kipling wrote exceedingly good poems, it's a pity he wasn't in charge of catering at BP.
  14. Awesome! By my reckoning that's 7 of us so far? I'm not sure how we could make this work either? Maybe a Facebook page to start with? Dont ask me how you do that though I'm a techno phobe. I know there are other Latics fans in NZ (well another one) there are quite a few ex players too who might sign up....Dougie Hodgson, Les Pogliacombover, Chris Killen, Neil Kilkenny plus all 3 Latics Aussie keepers, maybe we could sponsor one of the Aussie keepers' gloves or something? Anyway it's good to know that we are not alone, even if we just show that our support is there in spirit then that can only be a good thing. We are 12 hours in front here so I didn't get up at 3am to listen to yesterday's game. It's easier for midweek games as its early morning then. I managed to watch the Liverpool game last season on Setanta on the Internet, I was still jumping round the room when they equalised, Doh! Right that's me done for now, work in the morning so it's goodnight from me!
  15. G' Day! I left Oldham for New Zealand in July 2011 to start a new life with my missus & kids. So far so good but the one thing I do miss is watching Latics, I would have loved to have seen how badly we played against Bury. As I type this I am sat at work wearing the new home shirt (Friday dress down day) much to the bewilderment of the Rugby loving lot I work with. Along with Paul Dickov MK Mongs at home was my last appearance, thankfully I have happier memories than that game to look back on. The t'internet makes it easier to find out what is going on especially OWTB & the Chron, not so much the OS (whats that all about?). Its difficult trying to see goal highlights on websites such as the BBC or Sky Sports as we cannot always view them here so any help there would be appreciated, if some kind person could put them on YouTube or on OWTB somewhere after each game? I was wondering how many other Latics fans there are exiled down under in Australia or New Zealand? With that in mind and whilst playing around with PaintShop I decided to form LANZAC - Latics Australia & New Zealand Appreciation Club (catchy eh?) Maybe if there are enough of us we could make it more official? or be a sub branch of OASIS or something? If anyone has any ideas let us know, that would be Awesome! as they say here.
  16. I think I might have Alzheimer's, I can't remember there being any excitement at Boundary Park or us playing in navy and orange? Why not film a Survival Special instead? Sir David Attenborough could look for endangered rare species such as the happyasclappersus or the greatloaneesignsforus.
  17. This is tricky there are so many: "You're supposed to be at home" "3 stands, we've only got 3 stands" "All we are saying is give us a goal" 'You don't know what you're doing" "You're not fit to wear the shirt" 'You're so :censored: its unbelievable"
  18. A mural is a great idea, it would be more realistic if it has speech bubbles shouting abuse at Feeney and Brill.
  19. Clueless And Relegation Beckons Resignation Is Needed Immediately.
