  1. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11730/11714016/oldham-head-coach-pete-wild-leaves-the-club-due-to-personal-reasons Foot of article says Oldham have also released Clarke and Baxter.
  2. Could be close to 2,000 trannies https://www.tranmererovers.co.uk/news/2019/april/initial-ticket-allocation-for-oldham-sold-out/
  3. I believe the Supporter Liaison Officer is Mark Lund - at least he was in February when I had an email exchange with him after the Bury game. slo@oldhamathletic.co.uk
  4. I Haven’t got a clown mask so will this do - Mexican wrestling mask and ALs wrestling name, “el Coño”
  5. Just to mention I contacted our Supporter Liaison Officer, Mark Lund who responded very quickly and i was called by the GMP liaison officer, assigned to Oldham matches, who was equally helpful, sympathetic and empathetic. We chatted about my experience and thoughts which he and Mark were happy to take on board and include in a meeting with Bury to discuss events and review what worked/what didn’t. I felt I was listened to and that they took my issues seriously. Mark sees his role is important and is keen to do a good job. I think putting something out about the role/his remit and updating the contacts on the website might be helpful. You can get in touch with Mark at slo@oldhamathletic.co.uk Right. See you down at BP - if we play as in 1st half last week I reckon a decent win is on the cards !
  6. Thanks all for suggestions and details of who to contact. I think I’ll try our club first and take it from there. I’ll let you know how I get on. Thanks again. Much appreciated.
  7. I have and been kept behind a few times (Boothferry Park after an FA Cup runlives longin the memory) but I haven’t had to face it since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. I’d rather not have it and the many marvellous symptoms which includes an erosion of confidence and I hope you never get it or anything similar. Really I don’t.
  8. Whoever assessed the situation and decided to keep one end of Tics in the ground at the final whistle must have been smacked off their heads - too many halftime Vimtos. The logic behind this course of action was risible and flawed, not least because: If they wanted to clear the car park first and ensure the safety of away fans, don’t let the other stand of Tics out as they, er, could if inclined, quite easily be in said car park possibly exchanging pleasantries with the Bury kids - so objective not achieved The announcement 10 mins before end of game was inevitably going to lead to a couple of hundred fans deciding to leave there and then. Yet the club and police seemed to be caught a little off guard, panicked, closing the gates and shoving everyone back thereby laying the foundatition stones for the ensuing trouble then deciding to push fans back to the part of the stand where the Bury fans could goad and hurl coins (cowards) was pure genius they then deployed riot/tactical unit police in three lines to show excellent communication skills whilst handling reasonable requests to leave with “I’m not listening. I don’t care what your reason is and no point telling me as I’m not listening.” So, having created a more inflammatory situation than if they had left it, they invited an aggressive reaction not only from some of our fans who enjoy a bit of trouble but many others too. They also made it difficult and stressful for everyone as my experience shows: I approached the first line and before I even said anything, was pushed back and told it was pointless asking anything as they weren’t listening even when I politely asked if I could go as I have Parkinson’s and needed to get back home near Huddersfield by 6pm to take next vital medication and showed them a card stating I have PD they continued to respond with “I’m not listening” and “Don’t show me anything as I’m not looking.” until eventually I was forced to go down the line of identikit impassive officers amidst the chaos, asking each one if I could leave. Then, having go through line 1 I encountered their close cousins in line 2 who also played “pass the parcel” with my request, ensuring I asked them all before letting me through, having delightfully added an element of stress the third line and gate-keeper was almost reasonable in comparison and I only spent two minutes discussing my request. Opening the gate led to further frenzy as a few fellow Tics surged towards it. However this wasn’t necessarily the gatekeepers fault. I noted more riot police running towards the West Stand, rather gleefully I thought as I picked my way through some home fans who perhaps had left early to beat the traffic. I’m never convinced keeping away fans in the ground at the final whistle works as a method of ensuring safe passage as home fans can simply assemble and wait to confront or pick off away fans who are now easy to identify. Anyway, despite the best efforts of the local police and Bury FC officials I managed to get home in time and want to say thank you to a fellow Tic who saw my Parkinson’s card and helped my cause by asking for me to be let through. Very much appreciated (apart from referring to me as an “old man”!). I hope everyone got home safely. A great turn out which deserved a better result.
  9. I’ve got a spare adult ticket up for grabs as my lad has just told me he can’t make it. Dm me if interested.
  10. A very slight outside chance that this happens but i believe if Surridge gets on the pitch for Bournemouth before the closure of the transfer window, he would be ineligible to go on loan to any side other than Oldham this season.
  11. Class! Although only Latics could make it look like he’s sat on the loo.....
  12. I struggled with a Generalised Anxiety Disorder and depression a few years ago and pills helped but realising I needed to try and change was key and talking to a psychologist whilst undertaking Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) changed my life. It continues to help me cope with everything else life throws up, including being diagnosed with Parkinson’s seven years ago - which is my case was linked to my anxiety disorder. Anyone and everyone can suffer mental health issues and when you are in the depths of it there seems no way out. It’s hard, very hard, but if you can just start talking to someone it really can help. Watching Latics has always given me a much needed respite and whilst I usually go on my own, I never feel alone when surrounded by fellow Tics. I love the genuine offers of suppport on here for those going through dark days and am happy to talk and listen as well.
  13. What’s it like in Oldham as thick snow where I live?
  14. Credit to Wellens for not taking a striker off for Gerrard after Wilson walked. Kept up the tempo and nothing much changed.
  15. Other variations of orange citrus fruits could work "Om my Oldham, oh my Oldham, we play in blue and clementine...". It's been a long day.....
  16. Ngoo's unpredicability appears to befuddle defenders, especially if he's only on the pitch for last 15-20 mins. No time to work him out. If indeed there ever is! Now imagine if he gets the right boots for the playing surface!! ?
  17. I guess if the authorities are looking into our encroachment onto the pitch on Saturday they must surely be looking at Lincoln City and Sutton United. Oh hang on that probably gets dispensation as it's the magic of the FA Cup......
  18. It's a while since I've headed to a Latics game with any hope or expectation, but I'll still turn up as we are the lifeblood of the club which without us would be in even more trouble. But whether you choose to attend matches or stay away, I don't believe this reflects on your status as a fan. Passions run deep for OAFC and we express our emotions in different yet equally understandable ways. SC needs to be open and explain what the plans are for our club. I doubt he will but when we start struggling to get 2500 home fans in a month or two, he may regret not doing so and trying to work with us to reverse this slide into potential oblivion.
  19. The excuses wheeled out by GMP and Bury had the air of the now confirmed to be unfounded excuses wheeled out by SYP after the event 24 years (almost to the day) earlier. I still haven't found out what our fans rep on the board or the SLO were doing when 200+ Oldham fans were locked out, some with tickets. I was with about 15 who stayed trying to get in when about 3:30 the police marched round and declared the owners had informed them we were trespassing and if we didn't move they would forcibly remove us. I thought about asking how on earth it could be public thoroughfare before and after the game to allow fans in and out but then becomes private property in between. But the copper didn't look the type for discourse and debate so we left.
  20. Phoned ticket office. Picking up ticket in morning en route from Leeds. Got turned away couple of years back so not risking it again! And for gods sake lets trounce them for once!
