  1. Why? General feeling around us was why and he didn't look like he had any issues.
  2. On Green if he'd have looked uncomfortable or if it looked like it was troubling him in any way I agree, but it didn't. He just decided to take our most forward thinking midfield player when we had the ball off the pitch and leave the negative twins on.
  3. See there's a lot to be said for 20 woodbines after training and a pint of mild at half time, you don't need these modern namby pamby training methods for a long a healthy life.
  4. Getting the train over from Rochdale for an 11 o 'clock Bradford Spoon's breakfast, that sounds perfect for lunch at 12
  5. It was the first game, away, set up not very adventurously, not a surprise, didn't work, let's see what pitches up formation wise at home next week. I'm not a happy clapper by the way or a fan of AL but I just think reaction to today has been a bit knee jerk that's all considering it's the first game of a 46 game season.
  6. Fair enough and point taken but calling us a relegation team based on today is a bit of a nonsense.
  7. I went today, with my usual 2 companions, we differ in age so have seen different eras but sometimes our player experiences overlap. Carlo Corazzin came up in conversation today, I think he was overrated others thought his work for the team transcended that and made him a valuable asset. In short, we're not an echo chamber for each others views. When we started seeing comments about this being a relegation team, during (on twitter at half time), and after todays game based on todays performance we were all a bit gobsmacked to be honest. We were at the end we defended first half, Wheater walked the game, should be captain, Sefil had a couple of heart in mouth moments but that apart the defence played solidly first half and Woods never had a save to make. Could have had a penalty at the other end for a possible foul on Wilson, other people might have been better placed than me to give an opinion on it. We weren't under the cosh. Second half we actually had the better of the first 15 minutes for me but then things went South, we seemed to drop deeper and invite problems and shipped one. Mills had a fair penalty shout turned down. We lack badly up front and unless we recruit will struggle big time to score (so in one sense I get the relegation comments, if you're not scoring you're fucked) but that defence won't ship goals this season for me and given Wheater turned up a couple of days ago his experience should help bring Sefil on hopefully. It was the first game of the season, away against a team who were in the play offs last season, not a disaster and you don't get relegated after your first game. Possibly a slight overreaction going on?
  8. Remember going to Barnsley on a short lived minibus Pete and Harry organised from the Black Horse on Manchester Rd (sadly now a long time demolished) in the 90/91 season, it also went to Wolves opening day of the season and I think that was maybe its shelf life. To show his solidarity with the Yorkshire folk Harry turned up wearing a donkey jacket with King Arthur Rules chalked on the back in homage to Arthur Scargill, Yorkshire miners leader during the miners strike in the 80's (for our younger viewers)and a stack of fanzines to sell. As we entered the ground we saw Harry being removed for violating Rule 7 subsection 2 paragraph 15 on a small poster 8 feet up a wall which banned anything but official club publications being sold inside the ground. Not one to be deterred from watching his beloved Latics he relocated to the Barnsley end, donkey jacket with slogan and all, where the locals apparently gave him a wide berth presuming he was an escaped nutter.... Which in a sense he was.... Great fanzine, great people and a pleasure to share their company.
  9. It might go a long way towards paying for the petrol
  10. This.... As years have passed I've wondered if I dreamt that goal, I was only a kid and we didn't do many away games but that was one of them, glad I'm not going senile yet. Certainly my football hero at the time.
  11. It was this paragraph below that made me think it would be a financial split, the in conjunction with the current landowners provided them with a commercial agreement bit. Like I say it's how it read to me. Says there'll be more announcements as time goes on so I'm hoping things will unfold transparently as we go along. Don't think we can see it as anything other than good news really. "As we move to our next phase we have, in conjunction with the current landowners, provided the football club with a commercial agreement for the operation of matchday hospitality for the 2019/20 season."
  12. Seems fairly straightforward, at this stage it says there's an agreement for the fan led group to run the OEC including providing the club with hospitality under an as yet not completed commercial agreement. I'm guessing, and it is a pure guess, that any stand profits will be split between brassbank and the fan led group which they'll reinvest to finish the stand. Probably suits Blitz and Gazal as they don't have to put any more money into it and it gives the fan led group a head start on making it fit for purpose whilst negotiating the remainder of the deal to purchase the rest of the assets. So if that is the scenario it means that, indirectly, AL will be paying for the stand to be finished but still won't own it. That's my reading and take on it.
  13. Not long back.... Started the day with an 8 o'clock Spoons breakfast at Shay Wake before driving down with the nephew, deep down I had a Northampton last season feeling that it was a long way and wasn't going to go right (never does for us in recent years does it). By the time we got there I'd convinced myself that this time was our time (because that's what we do as fans eh). First half thought we were the better side and didn't think they showed much at all, second half was baffling.... This is your season right there, all square and 45 minutes to throw the kitchen sink at it and..... Nothing. Scrolling through this it's obvious we weren't the only ones who wanted substitutions earlier, so obvious. So that's it for another season. Got to mention how impressed I was with Exeter as a fan owned club, even had a fan liaison officer who when we wanted to know where the social club was pretty much gave us a guided tour. Happy end to the day.... I have beer.
  14. Could be wrong but from memory think our play off hopes had gone at home against Wolves 2 days before. Didn't we play Tuesday, Thursday, Sunderland on Saturday and again on Monday when the season had finished in the week following the Littlewoods Cup Final the previous Sunday, so 5 games in 9 days? Liverpool, elbowed someone in the face when I jumped up to celebrate Earls opener, if you're reading this I apologise, I know it's nearly 30 years on but better late than never. That Everton game, we got in early doors and a lad pitched up with a rucksack and took it off and put it down next to us. Couple of minutes later he says in a broad Irish accent "Will you watch this while I nip away under the stand?" to which the mates dad who'd tagged along replied "Son, if you're going, we're all going."
  15. I'll pass that on see if she wants to join the forum and get in touch.
  16. She's got a quite nifty Volvo V40 that shifts a bit...... And trust me, It's never her fault.
  17. In the midst of negotiating use of the nieces car as mine's in the garage for repairs. We're currently at her brother, my wingman, getting her dad to take her shopping Saturday morning and we pay for her taxi to and from work in the afternoon with potential flowers and Sunday lunch thrown in when we get back...... We're moving on to sorting Brexit on Monday.
  18. Back in the days before life intruded and I was like a moth to a flame when the floodlights were on I left my sisters church wedding before the bride and groom did to go to an away game at Derby. They'd arranged it at 11am to accommodate me but the vicar dragged on a bit. Mate had a bag of clothes in the car, he stuck his head round the church door as they were away signing the register and I did one. Stripped down to my boxers to get changed out of my wedding suit on the forecourt of the garage that used to be next to the White Hart as we filled the car up. With hindsight I'm amazed she still speaks to me and we lost as I remember....
  19. A lot of the older ones mentioned have resonance, the Villa game at Easter 88 was the one and only time I've had a kicking when we were followed after match by some of the Villa knobheads. One's not mentioned so far, Ipswich away when we sealed promotion was an epic day. Beating City 4-1 at Maine Road in the 80's Southend away, lost 1-0, can't remember the year, our driver had worked all day in his taxi on Friday and picked us up after shift at 2am Saturday. By Saturday tea time he was dead on his feet and we were pissed. He had a little pick me up before setting off back, never shut up all the way home and thought it was hilarious going through the Peak District to turn all the lights off on the car going up a hill when he could see one coming up the other side before putting them on full beam as the other car crested the hill. West Brom away, notable for a couple of our younger contingent coming into the pub by the ground saying they'd bribed the gate stewards to let them in. Much hilarity as we went to queue up and they sauntered down to said stewards with knowing smiles on their faces. The stewards nodded to a copper who promptly lifted them. Many others, 50 years this year supporting, dad started taking me when I was 4, been some good times had.
  20. Voted, good luck, involved with a charity myself so know the amount of hard work that goes into everything that's done. May be people could share the link on their Facebook pages, I'll do it.
  21. Dreamers... Castle, Wrens Nest, Hark to Topper, Coliseum Bar (the bouncers thought it was amusing to let us in with the theatre crowd), Oldham Hotel, Dreamers every Friday and Saturday.. Deffo a DJ when I frequented.... Last song Hazel O''Connor Will You or Korgis Everybody's got to Learn Sometime (Oldham version of subtle coercion).... Tommy throwing people head first down the stairs was the weekly cabaret Mikey..... Scholes, see the logic as the money wouldn't matter and he's a fan but he's a mate of Frankies so would be aware of AL's modus operandi and would that be how he wants his first managerial foray to pan out..... We'll see eh.
  22. Probably covering what most people have posted but that was shocking, obvious the formation was wrong early doors and you can't just stand there touchline with it staring you in the face and not change it at half time at the latest when you've 15 minutes to think about it. If he feels he's learnt something from it, good, don't let it happen again. Nepo, has he shit in Bunns shoes as he's no more getting a game than I am yet I feel he'd bring something more to the party than others who are out there. Graham, he's a kid and had a bad one today but why are we playing someone elses 18 year old when we've got Tom Hamer who's not even making the squad and is one we've developed, has shown promise and from what I've seen probably should be starting ahead of Graham if we're expanding the Edmundson Clarke defence partnership. Final thought, womens toilets in the RRE not flushing second half, you can't have the pitch sprinklers on at half time at that end and expect that too, we're not made of money you know...
