  1. I havent seen us win since we beat Cheltenham 2-1 back in 2006! Admittedly I dont go as often nowadays as I used to, but its still over 30 odd games since then that I havent even had a sniff of a win. To top it off in past seasons, I have managed to attend the games where we lost 7-1 to Cardiff, 5-0 away to Millwall and Reading , 4-1 at Yeovil, 6-2 at MK Dons and a 5-0 home drubbing to Peterborough. Last season I was working up in Manchester and made it to three 'home bankers' at BP against Walsall, Scunny and Bury..........which instead yielded a grand total of 2 points. I finally plucked up the courage to go again this season against Brentford only to see us lose to a 93rd minute goal, but I'm planning to go to the Orient game, so anyone planning on going, dont..........as we will most likely lose!
  2. Without reading 4 threads..........Ellis Plummer is :censored:e!
  3. What about Steve Redmond? Worth a mention just for hacking Dean Saunders shot off the line in the Villa game at the start of our Great Escape!
  4. Wish we had a player like Eyresie now. He really was a class act! One of my favourite ever Latics players
  5. Sadly I think it originated from the Leeds song they sung when they played Chelsea in the League Cup earlier this season. Their version was Diouf and Varney and obviously directed as Cashley Cole. Still funny though!
  6. To be fair, most our team falls asleep around 3 o'clock on Saturday so its obviously pretty normal.
  7. Until we are mathmatically safe I'm taking nothing for granted. However as it has been all season, its about what we do that matters. Would rather have the points on the board rather than the games in hand.
  8. Thats a very interesting comment from LJ. I have a mate who is a Yeovil fan and he said that when Grounds was there he was very vocal and like a leader..........which makes me wonder what the hell PD did to him that made him not. Despite what the players have said in the past, I dont think the dressing atmosphere under Dickov was very good at all.
  9. I think he had a 'Making tea badge' from the cubs once, hence why Taggart drunk so much of the stuff! Ive asked a similar question on another thread, but dont remember any mention of it when he took over.
  10. But surely the only way Dickov is going to learn is by getting good advice and ideas from others who know more about the game than him? No one can every question is work ethic but judging by the comments surrounding his regime and their fitness, he needs to adopt a more professional attitude towards his coaching and management techniques. I still think he has the makings of a decent manager but he has got a hell of a lot of work ahead of him starting with his tactical nouse. Maybe he needs to lose that nice guy attitude and become an arsehole instead! By the way to what level did PD have his coaching badges?
  11. Under Dickov we were lucky to get 10 mins on a rare good day of any substantial high tempo football let alone 70! Sometimes you just need to take the game to the opposition and put them on the back foot. So many matches over the last couple of seasons where teams were there for the taking if only we raised our game and got out of 1st gear but instead we gifted them goals and they won without even breaking a sweat!
  12. I think Dickov will become a decent manager, but his biggest flaw was that he believed that we could win matches just by talking a good game which we all found wasnt true. Bad managers talk the talk with very little action, good managers let the results do the talking for them. Others like Dave Penney were :censored:e at both. PD as well all know would have been better suited to having an experienced number 2 next to him and learning from them, but he was either unwilling to listen to advice or thought he knew better. LJ on the other hand seems to me to be the kind of character who wants to learn and is always wanting to better himself. I'm sure even Fergie would say that everyday he learns something new and the guy, even though he is a total prick, has won everything there is to win in the modern game. Dickov needs some time away to look at himself and the way he handled the whole situation here. He could still make a decent manager but he has to learn from his mistakes but sometimes I thought that he was too stubborn to do that. His next appointment is a make or break for him as he will have to start backing up his talk with results and progress.
  13. I watched a video on the BBC website the other day about the preparation that Billy Davies goes through for each match at Forest. It was quite incredible how much prep work he puts into each fixture. He even has his own media studio at home where i monitors training which he has filmed. Seems like he plans to the minute detail. Was actually quite a fascinating insight into how the game has changed over the last 15 years or so. If LJ has that same attention to detail and approach then whatever happens he will leave us with a more professional setup hopefully.
  14. Good stuff. Would have been interesting to see how different it would have been had the club not done the meet and greet yesterday. All sounds positive so far, lets hope the players buy into it as well over the next 9 games. Once again shows what this group of players are capable of, even if it was against Hartlepool. Big test this weekend
  15. And Jose makes it 3-0 Still will need to be wary still as we took teams apart ie Notts County at the start of Dickov's reign......but all things considered so far a great start for the young lad!
  16. Dickov assembled this squad of players over his tenure. Apart from their obvious attribute of whether or not they were any good at football which you would take as a granted when scouting a player, you also need to take into account the character of the person you are buying. What has been abundantly clear this season is that while the talent of the side for the most part cannot be questioned (although maybe the club as a whole believes these players are better than they actually are), their desire to win and their application to get results can be. PD has on paper put together a decent league one side, but the character of the player he has signed is now coming to forefront. So in short, yes PD is to blame for our current predicament. Once the rot sets in during a season, it is very hard to make a permenant change that will make much difference. This team has played badly for too long this season and its become a habit. The FA cup run, and some good performances against namely Preston and the Dongs have papered over the stark reality of this group of players. You can have all the ability in the world but if you lack the basic trait of desire and commitment to improve and win, your talent counts for nothing!
  17. Was wondering the same thing, but i can only assume he wasnt registered in time to make him legible for todays game.......apart from that I cant understand it either!
  18. Who would want to buy us honestly? I see Stockport got beat 3-1 at home today by Braintree. If we go down this season, that will be the kind of results we will be getting in a couple of seasons. Relegation from this piss poor league is not an option, but sadly its going to happen
  19. In past years when we have struggled, I always thought we had enough about us to get out of it. Looking at the table and this current set of players, I think we are going down.
  20. As soon as i heard of Gillette Soccer Saturday that we had a pen, i was praying Jose wouldnt do his Palenka dink, then when i heard it was saved i knew he had! If I could predict what he was going to do from my own living room, any goalkeeper worth his salt would have done as well! Not the time to be trying that and I hope he will get docked a weeks wages for doing it as well. Could well have cost us a valuable point!
  21. I'm glad he got sent off. Im glad they got knocked out. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Fergie almost choke on his chewing gum and sprint down to the touchline to hurl abuse at the referee. I also enjoyed the incessant booing by the bitter Manure fans after the decision had been made. I also laughed and cheered when Modric equalised and I even cheered when Ronaldo scored (something i never want to have to do again). So all in all i thoroughly enjoyed seeing them go out and took great pleasure and delight in it as well. Ferdinand's antics at the end just summed up what a horrible, hypocritical and spiteful club they are. The Champions League will be a far better tournament without them. Good riddance!
  22. If Joe was to come back, I would only like to see him here in an advisory role rather than manager. I'm pretty sure Jimmy Nicholl does the same kind of role with Dean Smith at Walsall, and they dont seem to be doing to badly on a smaller budget and less talented squad than we have. I would hate for Joe to come back again in a full time basis as manager and get hounded out when we dont play tika-taka football and blow the opposition away week after week. All in all, the guy is a legend and thats how it should stay. Stitch on the other hand...........question is..........has he been out of the game too long now?
