  1. Is this an attempted belittling exercise Omar. Perfectly ok my end. Barry
  2. pk. I do not use rudeness as a means to not answering people's concerns. However I am not obliged to give answers to people who are offensive and sometimes sometimes abusive. Barry
  3. I am perfectly "capable" Chaddy and don't need to re-read. As I say please enlarge instead on making emotional comment. Barry
  4. oafc000. I will add rudeness to you many abstract qualities. And you wonder why I am not encourage to visit the site more often. Barry
  5. OAFC0000. You are playing with words and you know exactly what I mean. Barry
  6. Chaddy................Please enlarge. Your comments baffle me but are in context with your previous approaches to me. Barry
  7. OAFC0000. The Supporters Assocation is a separate body that originally had many members and raised funds. Because of its demise many dans now look upon us as the fundraising body. That orginally was not our function although I am bound to say it does help to arrange various events to keep us solvent. Barry
  8. You misunderstand my meaning. I merely refer to "ignorance" insofar at it not being as easy to conduct Trust matters when you are actually involved as opposed to making comment on what should or should not be. As fans representative you walk a very tight rope within the club at times and who would expect you to burn your bridges.????????. Your mannerism and apporach matters a great deal and you would not last two miuntes with the "union" approach as someone suggested. Nothing to do with keep fans in the dark Tracey just a realistic observation.!!!!. To make an observation from answering this forum alone is unfair. You know me better than that. !!. I have offered on mjore than one occasion to meet fans. I write and meet fans when requested etc. Anyway I am sure we can conduct this conversation when I next see you hopefully. Barry
  9. A good debate. Some ideas born out of ignorance because it is not as easy as you might think. At this stage I would suggest people are careful of what they wish for. Don't knock the efforts of the Trust over the past 10 years too much. A lot of experience has been gained as to how a football club works on a daily basis and that knowledge has not been achieved overnight. The Trust is what it says on the "can". It is not a "supporters Association". Of course we have made mistakes and we work with the numbers we have available and those who can make the time to contribute. Many changes are in the pipeline with regard to the consititution and membership. I have said on numerous occasions we need help and volunteers so jump on board. We are in the process of working on the website to make it more updated and user friendly but again this will take a lot of someone's time to complete. I will be doing an interview about the Trust generally over the past 10 years which will go on the Official Website. It will include many areas of my exeperiences over this period of time. I will also identify with the likelihood of clubs surviving properly under Trust management in the Football League and the fans perception of our club, its ability to survive and the personal input of our Chairman, Simon Corney. As I say be careful what you might wish for. I hope as many of you can attend on the 14 April for the fans meeting between 6.30pm and 7.15pm. For those staying for the AGM please ensure you have your membership card with you. (Tracey I might be able to forge you one if you start to treat me nicely lololol). Barry
  10. Thanks for your efforts Chris and Tracey. Barry
  11. Your descriptive manner never ceases to amaze me Rummy. You get away with a lot of offensive and demeaning remarks on this site many a time without substance behind your arguments. Don't hide behind you keyboard and get up and bring that collective body of fans together to join the Trust and take over its affairs. My post has nothing to do with self promotion other than telling it as it is. My colleagues on the Trust are entitled to some praise for their effort with playershare in the early days and in the new set at present. Perhaps some helpers at the moment feel intimidated if they are associated with the Trust but I will not stand by and let the Trust officials who help with Playershare feel belittled by your and others comments. Barry
  12. With your comments in mind Rummy, I should remind you that I designed and introduced this scheme some years ago. Despite Underdogs thanks and her lack of endorsement towards the Trust efforts both past and present , like it or not Trust colleagues over the years have put a great deal into the scheme. Lees lover is perfectly right when he states that the money for Luke Beckett actually came from the Trust and it was a substancial amount I was going to let this pass without comment until a number of posters felt it appropriate to belittle the Trust and it efforts with Playershare. Likewise some of my colleagues on the Playershare committee appear to be reluctant to suggest a link between the bodies. It was felt a couple of years ago that Playershare should have more fans input and for some reason a number of fans felt it more appealing to do this type of work than join the Trusts "team". That has proved to be a fantastic move and I am proud to work alongside some great volunteers who are keen to work on the scheme to make it successful The simple fact remains that the Trust and Playershare have one common goal and that is the interests of our football club. You may not like a member of the Trust or the organisation generally but it unfair for me to let the occasion pass without the Trust being given some credit for Playershare work in the past and at present. Barry
  13. No problems Alex. As you know there are days you are and days you are not. !!!!!!!. The nature of the role. Hope you are well. Still a place for you on board. !! Barry
  14. Alex (Metty). Having been a Director yourself I think you do your former colleagues a great dis-service by suggestion that membership of he Board is just a matter of attending a few meeting. Whilst that may have been your own experience for the short term you served I can assure you that Directors spend a great deal of time away from meetings in trying to raise money etc., along with many other tasks The Trust also works with the Community Trust and helps with many initiatives at the club. Unfortunately we have had to assume many responsibilities since the Oldham Athletic Supporters Association seem to have become largely inactive. Essentially the "Trust" is an organisation whose main principle is to "overview" the clubs activities and smooth running and this occurs where any Trust is involved around the country. I know that club owners in the leagues would disagree with this position because in real terms we have no real "clout" to enforce change. What we can do is witness, learn and encourage the club in the right direction. Jenny Warburton is indeed the fan representative for the club and I sit on the board to play a part in the clubs development on the part of the fans. The term "fans representative" has been used over the years and I do not object because I try to help out in any situation. Jenny's position came about because the Football League recommends that a club employee takes on the mantle of this post. To the many who make valid input and suggestions that require a great deal of work to be done then jump aboard and come and help with producing the work you suggest. This would involve you taking minutes of the meetings, preparing them and placing tham on the websites.Other work you suggest also has a time element. Rick Attwood is currently working on a new scheme for membership that will be computer based. There are lots of things we want to do and we need people to help.!. To those of you who knock what we try to do and to those who do not think we are fit for purpose then make yourself available. We will listen , bring you on board and implement change if necessary. Whatever you think or believe, the Trust must maintain a presence and input within the club over many years to come. It serves no purpose for me to go into detail but the experience I have gained over the past 10 years as a Director puts the Trust in an excellent position. My colleagues are aware of that experience and above all else we know how a football club works. If you spilt rsponsibilities you will lose that knowledge and experience. It is just a matter for the individual concerned to manage the obvious conflicts when they occur. I hope this helps to put matters into some perspective. Barry
  15. Simoncorneyis god..................... Can you please pm me and I can arrange to meet you. Barry
  16. tottie. Oh for the good times. Whilst we all talked crap in the Lookers we had some good times. Like to have a chat sometime. A lot of the guys from the Lookers still sit together in the main stand and travel to away games together. My wife being one of them (she is'nt for the big life.) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Barry
  17. Over the past 10 years I have been forced to defend my position and activities on numerous occasions. I can never win whatever I say or do. At the expense of repeating myself I will NOT get involved with individuals or posts that are personal or rude. Just a couple of points. I did say I would arrange another meeting I just did not say when I could do this. To the poster who posed the original question, I am happy to meet you at the club to answer any queries you may have, if indeed it is imformation I can give you. Clearly you are not happy with me at the moment so let us try and resolve that. !! We have been trying to do the managers "get togethers" every three or four months. We have just had one so I will be arranging one in the next 4-6 weeks. I am currently looking at a larger forum and will annnounce the date if it can be arranged. OWTB represents a percentage of fans (followers) that call upon my services and time and like it or not I also deal with many other commitments and fans who have no interest or input with this site. I spread myself thinly over a wide range of responsibilities and also complete a large amount of work and representation on behalf of the club. For those doubters, I complete work in the interests of ALL Oldham Athletic fans because that is my remit. I appreciate that some have others views about my role but that is my belief and stated position. Contrary to rumour I do not get paid for the work I do nor do I receive any expenses. Whilst I know it aggravates a few, I do enjoy the priveleges of Directorship and on matchdays help with entertaining the visiting teams Directors. For those who are interested in the actual input of my work , it has always been the case that the Trust sets aside time for fans to attend prior to our meeting to ask any questions they wish. We do this between 7.00pm and 7.30pm, with further time if necessary. For those who are only interested in the time I put in with a view to be interested themselves in the future , I would say I average approximately 5-6 hours daily on most days of the week. This can also entail many meetings in a given period together with some late evenings. Fortunately my personal circumstances allow for this and I could be criticised for putting this amount of time in. On top of this I perform my Trust responsibilities In the past I have agreed to meet fans to explain my role but either no one turns up to the meetings we have arranged nor does anyone seek such a meeting. Furthermore the Trust has always had an open door policy for anyone who wishes to help in anyway with a view to eventually becoming a director if the work suits them. Perhaps those who spend many hours on this site could consider spending some of that time helping the Trust or indeed the Playershare Committee. Thankyou Barry
  18. Given the rude manner of some posters I do not want to try and enter into a resonable debate on the points raised. There are very good reasons why the transfers in question have gone ahead. What I will do is arrange for the manager to have one of our meetings sooner than we might have anticipated and we can tackle your areas of concern. I will also try and arrange for Simon Corney to be present and perhaps those who have made some unfortunate remarks might want to consider attending and making your points in person to him. We all enjoy healthy debate on matters affecting our club.!!!!!!!! Barry
