  1. John Terry also played his first full professional debut against us that day as well... what ever happened to that lad?
  2. Why can't all official statements that come from the club be like this? Honestly Simon (and I've never met the bloke) being our fans representative is probably one of the few positives that are happening at our club at the moment. For someone to take as much time for free to help Latics' future is highly appreciated. When he spoke on gmr he sounded a lot more trustworthy and a lot less arrogant than Neil Joy. Keep up the good work and don't let us miserable bastards grind you down.
  3. 22 Games left and 33 points required to pretty much guarentee safety (anything less would bring luck into it) so thats an average of 1.5 points per game. It's a tough ask for Shez to try and get us playing like a top half team in such a short time but if there was a man to do it...
  4. Cornell cannot start against Millwall, even the stats don't help his cause against Coleman: Cornell goals conceeded per game: 1.70 compared to Colemans 1.18. Cornell clean sheets 1 in 17 compared to Colemans 4 in 11. Games lost with Cornell in net: 8 compared to Colemans 3. Error after error is costing us points.
  5. From Oil Voice July 2015: "Simon Corney was previously a partner at Altima Partners, a significant shareholder in TomCo, from 2004 to 2011. Before then he worked at Deutsche Bank within the investment banking division and at Shell, including on oil and gas acquisitions. Since leaving Altima Partners he has been working as a consultant, including for Altima Partners and Dominic Redfern." I'm guessing it's a different Simon Corney?
  6. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30801798 January 2015: "I've had enough, it's no secret," Corney told the Oldham Chronicle. "I've been here for 12 years and I just don't have the same interest any more." Jog on 12 months and look what state we're in. If you're working for a company and the big boss man doesn't care, what amount of effort are you going to put in? He wants out, he probably see's relegation as a good excuse to walk away (He was quoted on that statement a couple of years ago). The players don't care what happens to Oldham Athletic, it's us the fan's who pump a :censored: load of money into it that suffers. The majority of us would love to walk away but we're like a tramps dog, loyal to a losing case. I and I'm sure a lot of us wish for change in 2016 but in reality can you see anything changing?
  7. Whilst I agree that Dunn should leave, once again the root of all these problems is Corney & Co. The last 12 months supporting this club has been a joke. Until the jokers at the top leave, we'll be served with this cheap option dross until we eventually end up in League 2 and beyond. Please leave Corney, thanks for your time here but please please leave and let someone else have a try at running our once beautiful football club.
  8. These comments come from a guy who hired the most unapproachable director and a PR nightmare - I can't take his comments seriously anymore. I want change at BP.
  9. Oldham's record since Holden came back to be a coach - 41 games, 9 wins 13 draws and 19 losses meaning a win percentage of 22%. Far from solely being his fault but I think if i were him i'd try and get another gig with another club as his name is quickly being dragged through the mud if he wants to get a respected career as a coach / manager.
  10. Anything I can do to help get this guy off the board I am 100% behind. This week has embarrassed the club (ignoring whether you were pro or against a Ched Evans signing) so I think enough is enough. Bye Bye Barry.
  11. Too many changes. The key to success in the last 10 games of last season and the first 20 in this was a settled team. Recently LJ has tinkered with line ups / formations and loanees. Changes need to be made and once again I was baffled by his selections today. Rachubka for Kenny Elokobi for Kusunga (a leader in a settled team) Brown for B. Wilson Winchester for Dieng / Johnson Jabo for Poleon Not that this will guarantee us playing well but it was a set up that was working and got us into the play offs with teams fearing us.
  12. Always tough pre season but this year there are many options available and I doubt anyone will get the starting XI correct. I just hope Johnson knows his ideal 11 as the last 10 games of last season proved that a settled team leads to promotion form. My shout would be: GK: Rachubka CB's: Wilson --- Elokobi --- WIlson RB / Attacking option if required: Brown LB / Attacking option if required: Mills Mid: Jones, Kelly, Forte (switch positions as per strengths etc) Att: Philliskirk & JCH Bench: Coleman Lockwood Kusunga Dayton Winchester Gros
  13. I think a lot of people were going anyway with it being a top away day The away end holds 1700 so I think we'll be close to selling out and creating a top atmosphere. If the players don't respond to our support and the fact that it's the biggest game of the season then there's no hope for us.
  14. I don't think we're suggesting that we won't win against either PNE or Rov'rum, it's just looking at the stats and seeing how hard it will be to beat them. Both are in incredible form, they both tend to win against lower league teams and we couldn't win against a very poor Tranmere side. I just hope LJ can get the lads motivated for these games and just say to them that there's zero pressure on us. We did Peterborough and Swindon at home and should have beaten Orient when they were in amazing form. It'll be tough.
  15. Our first: Great build up play from Mellor and Harkins, Wes got lucky with the ball's swerve and poor goalkeeping but its the classic 'if you don't buy the ticket' scenario. This is something I find we struggle to do, edge of the area cheeky shots testing the GK constantly throughout the game. Their first: Mellor at LB was easy pickings for Lowe but ultimately Latics were unlucky and there's not much you could have done defensively. Our second: Best OG ever? Credit to Lockwood for that wonderful ball through and Charlie Mac please watch the game! Their second: No left back in position meaning an easy cross but why Brown (who i thought played well for the most part) and Lockwood didn't man mark Lowe I don't know... Not the greatest point and we should have won quite easily but hey these things happen! Roll on PNE.
  16. Stick in the middle of that a massive recession that has hit businesses massively over the past 5/6 years and you could say that we've done fairly well. Finally we have progression off the field, a promising set up from the youth to the first team and had a couple of cracking cup ties to put our name on the worldwide map yet again. However, I'd say it hasn't been all plain sailing for Corney and the fled amigo's. Mangerial appointment and sackings have left a lot of questions by many. The frustrating plans to move to Failsworth which wasted years and money with the whole failed process. The lack of progression on the field in the last ten years has lost us fans and reduced our optimism as loyal supporters as we constantly aim for a play off push. For me personally, my view on Simon is constantly changing which in my eyes is the best way as it avoids blind faithfulness but also unnecessary doom mongering towards the running of the club. Currently I'm happy with him being in charge of our club and I feel that he is one of us mad lot now. He doesn't have to do it, I wouldn't do it if I had the money, so, for that I thank him and fingers crossed next year will be our year...
  17. Sit in the new north stand then? The main stand will be pulled down/closed pretty much straight away after the new one is up and a single tiered stand will only be built there for the reasons with the sun in winter so sticking safe standing in the new one would be the most effective solution without ripping up current seats etc.
  18. Build new north stand, pull down main stand, build a single tiered safe standing stand where old main stand was. Happy days
  19. He did the Liverpool v Notts match in the League Cup earlier this season and Notts didn't discrace themselves. Not the worse appointment in my eyes but we'll see!
  20. "The League One outfit are desperate to forge links with powerhouse neighbours City." No were not.
  21. That step where the picture was taken in the paddock was my entertainment on many dull games, it was slightly higher than the one before so many people tripped over it... similar to this video: I fully expect the new stand to have one.
  22. Good to see Byrne back in the starting 11 - his experience will give us a level head in these crucial games along with another natural leader at the back. Simpson is best just behind the front men and not on the wing as was seen against Carlisle so we'll see how the plan goes tonight. Croft coming back in the team is vital as well although I do worry he's not fit and just been forced to play through the pain.
  23. He's going down, He's going down... He's goinnnng - Chris Moore's going down!
  24. I remember when we put Tranmere in the small section of the RRE and we were having a beer in the large section when a Bin Dipper cooly walked in with his TRFC hat on. Having realised his mistake he went white in the face and slowly removed his hat and tried to get away with it. Unfortunatly for him we'd already spotted him and kicked him black and blue until he supported Latics laughed with him and politely showed him to the steward to let him in the Rovers end because we're a nice bunch aren't we
