  1. You'll be in good company on Saturday. I live in the USA but I bought the Matchball Sponsorship package as a birthday present for my Oldham based brother in law who is a lifelong Shrimper. He'll be there with 9 mates. However, as a lifelong Oldham follower, I hope he doesn't go home with a smile!
  2. A reminder of what we thought back in 2009! Now where did I put that crystal ball
  3. In Holland and have had past success to watch some games with just a few hitches. Today was a nightmare. I got audio most of the time. I got video for only about 10 minutes in the first half. I did all the recommended "fixes" but no joy... Not sure I would recommend the platform
  4. @Armchair thanks for the info on Saturday .. I got it working OK - thankfully I had to leave at half time! For other potential users my experience was the first 30 minutes streamed really well and good definition .. then after that it kept stalling and / or breaking up. I had to relaunch the browser 3-4 times to get service back ...
  5. @ Armchair - thanks for the info ... it's several hours until KO but match centre at the moment only shows me one option - "listen live". In your experience does the "watch live" option pop up nearer to KO or should it already be there as it's match day?
  6. I live in the US and signed up last week for the full package. This week I am in Holland. Going through the club web site I can open ifollow video content and it streams fine, but apparently only for the standard content that UK users could get (interviews and highlights) ... I cannot see any link to watching a live match .. can anyone advise where the links are to watch the games live? Or where the ifollow tech support is? Any ideas appreciated!
  7. @ Opinions4u - what takes you to the Springs? (I have a home there ...)
  8. Do you know if that picture is available in print anywhere?
  9. Interesting reading .. PD ranked number 102 out of 122 managers based on points per game ... John Sheriden down at 111 with Chesterfield buy in at 24 with Plymouth ... Neil Warnock at 55 ... Ronnie Moore at 13 .... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21372441
  10. so I just spent 15 minutes roaming around the new OAFC site ... I would like to send an email to Neil Joy, but cannot find a contact address ... can someone here please post it? thanks, Steve
  11. Living overseas for many years there are too many to mention, but the West Ham game stands out because it was the only Oldham game I saw screened live in Hong Kong ... I got up in the middle of the night and couldn't believe it as the goals kept going in ... still couldn't believe it after I got some sleep before work! Long before internet days, I had to buy the morning paper to see if I'd dreamt it !
  12. Also there! Thanks for the memories! And I recall a chron article about 50 + coaches going along the old A roads in convoy .. I was in one of them! Now, I need someone else here to prompt my memory ... was it the same season we played York at home and won (maybe 2-0?) .. it was a Tuesday night match and City had a game cancelled ... huge crowd and we did a big "kop end copy" of you'll never walk alone in the chaddy, and my city mate (in the RR with his city friends said even they were impressed) ....
  13. I live between London and the USA, but born and bred in Oldham, season ticket holder in the 70's, and they will always be "my team". A couple of years ago I sponsored (paid for) 10 season tickets for the club to give to youngsters in the town, in the hope that some may eventually become life long supporters ... never heard anything afterwards ..... Similar time, and knowing my passion for the club, my brother in law bought a match day sponsorship for me and six mates as a birthday present when I was back in town. £xxx in pounds for the club. Good day out ... but again never heard anything again after the day out.... My point ... I'm not yet skint, I like my club, but I'm not so obsessed that I'm going to chase OAFC to give them money. But if they'd have followed up I'm sure I would have done another match day deal, and probably have sponsored a few more tickets for kids ... With today's technology it must be simple to track people who already contributed and showed willing! (God knows how many insurance / banks / auto / furniture / supermarkets / charities etc etc chase me daily)
  14. As an exile, it seems that so many times now when I go back home it's for a family funeral ... but it's always a "bitter sweet" occasion .. as I remember the people I knew and the lives they lived ... I also did not know Hilda, but as a life long supporter I can only imagine the events/years/matches she would have experienced ... the many "downs", but also so many high points over such a long time ... God Bless and Rest in Peace
  15. ... watch another "Oldham nil" left Cologne at 9.30, drove through Germany, Holland, Belgium and France ... Eurotunnel to England and got into the ground one minute before kick off .... was it worth it - "no" we should have been at least three down by half time ... two great saves, one missed open goal, one hit the post, and a couple of other clear chances ... Reid seemed off the pace or not interested ... shape was better after he was replaced Midfield distribution and man marking was poor ... Guess I'll skip Saturday!
  16. I was living in Hong Kong at the time - well before internet, satellite or cable TV, but a local chanel showed the game ... I stayed up all night to watch, went to bed drunk and happy ... woke up next day and genuinely thought I'd been dreaming .. had to call Oldham to check!!
  17. two years ago I did a project building warehousing / light industrial estate on a 5+ acre former gas works site ... same contamination (perhaps), but that site cost just over £1M and 18 months to remediate suitable for construction ...
  18. I can easily see how there is confusion. It's because in many such OAFC postings (including the one you have copied here) then the term "the club" appears to be flexibly interchangeable with "Brassbank" and the individual shareholders. So this article says it is "a joint venture between the football club and Holroy Developments". BUT the club doesn't own the land. Brassbank does. So how is the club involved? Did Brassbank deed the land or development proceeds to the club? And if Brassbank goes on to sell other parcels of land, then how does that benefit the club unless Brassbank or the individual shareholders elect to give further money to the club?
  19. Small world. I'm on my travels and had a beer today in a sports bar in Tokyo. There were 4 guys wearing "Wizards" shirts, and I had to ask which team it was!
  20. surprised nobody mentioned Bill Cranston yet ... centre half who took no prisoners
