  1. If Swansea try and outplay us then I feel we might have a chance at getting something from tomorrow but if they get stuck in and close us down it might be a different outcome. Carlisle did not close us down quickly enough and gave us space to play and this resulted in us looking quite comfortable. The teams that have closed us down quickly this season have had a lot of success and we do end up looking a bit lost. Drphibes
  2. Not that happy with the way things have happened really, Moore was released 1 week ago and it appears we make our move over a week later ? Now that Trotman has left we need cover in the middle of defence asap and I fully expect this to happen via a loan deal because an injury to either Stam or Hazell and we will be in the brown stuff. Drphibes
  3. If Ricketts did leave on bad terms this is seriously rank news. One can only hope that all is fine and dandy with him and Shez but from the outside looking in that does not seem likely . Drphibes
  4. I did not like reading that Dyer has been plauged by injuires for the past couple of years. In his day he would have been a good signing but no point in signing a crock. Drphibes
  5. I did notice that Taylor did take quite a lot of short corners last night and was a bit worried that his confidence had taken a bit of a battering after his corners kicks against Hudders. I do not think we get much success from the short corner kick and we often end up going back to the halfway line when we choose this option. I say get Taylor doing more practice and wipe the Hudders stuff into the history books. Drphibes
  6. Perhaps the players adopted your attitude against Hudders and thought sod it we have had our day in the sun. While I agree that a good thrashing would probably be the end result of a trip to Chelsea I am actually bothered that we will now miss out on another big pay day and that something that this club desperately needs. Drphibes
  7. We are short on cover at centre half and if Trotman left wouldnt we be left with Hazell, Stam, a crocked Gregan and a crock in the making Thompson ? Pretty sure I read somewhere that Gregan's injury could well keep him out for the rest of the season and with the transfer window all set to shut we could find ourselves left with the centre halves. At the end of the day we need decent players to bring in decent crowds and selling off a key player (yes he is a key player!!) could result in even more fans throwing the towel in. Drphibes
  8. Yes I agree that Beckett did nothing wrong at all and I did comment at the time to my mate that Luke went up in my estimations for his controlled celebration after he scored. Drphibes
  9. I was in the Lookers and he ran directly towards me, he didnt give it to us so get over it. Drphibes
  10. Im sure Hudders offered Beckett a 3 year deal and that kind of blew it for us. After Luke's knee injury with us a 3 year deal was a big risk when he would have taken up a big part of the budget. Drphibes
  11. Hang on a minute what do you mean expectations of some people ? I would imagine the vast majority of Latics fans who only attend homes games are pig sick of playing below par football and we are nearly into February. I have been going to Bp long before we ever got near the pinch me days and I have no expectation of us repeating those days in the near future or indeed the future full stop, but I do expect a team that played well last year to not nosedive the season after and get beat by average teams like Hudders yesterday. Drphibes ps The fans got behind the team in the second half yesterday and what was the end result ? a little bit of huff and puff and then back to looking lost.
  12. What ran towards the lookers to be surrounded by his team mates ? Beckett did not direct his celebration to any Latics fans so I cannot see why he showed a lack of respect. Drphibes
  13. I would agree that seeing that we are struggling to sign anybody to boost the squad it is pretty naff seeing a headline like that. A rethink is needed on the wording of things like this in the future. Drphibes
  14. Well if the fans are to blame then we will more than likely never improve or go places. It is a fact that the moaners have always been present and I would imagine that will continue long after us lot leave this planet. I can only presume that the great Latics teams of years ago had more bottle and personality and could handle the blubberings of a few punters ? Drphibes
  15. Out of interest can you give us the names of ex Latics players who after being given the bird at Bounday park went on to greater things ? The last player who got some major stick was Richard Butcher and I dont think he went onto better things did he ? Drphibes
  16. Totally agree with your comments there lags. There seems to be a group of supporters who are convinced we have some of the worst fans in the country and if the moaners and snipers buggered off it would result in the Latics sitting top of the division. The vocal critics have been present ever since I wheeled into Boundary park 26+ years ago and in that time the team have endured a mixture of relegation scraps and wembley appearances. I agree that slating a player will usually result in a negative response but I am sure there must be some players who have gone the other way and decided to dig deep and show the people who complain that they are actually good players ? While it might annoy us that some seem to complain no matter what the performance is like it really is a fact finacially we cannot offord to pick and choose who we admit through the gate. Drphibes
  17. I think it is a bit hard to place a price on Trotman's head due to him only coming into the team recently. However his rapid progress would have me thinking of placing a large sell on clause into any possible deal that might occur in the future. Drphibes
  18. I read in the papers last week that one club was all set to offer £800000 for Armstrong so if this is true he is well and truly out of our reach. Drphibes
  19. I think you can safely say that this was nowhere near a good performance when you hear Shez's aftermatch interview. Drphibes
  20. I thought Hazell was given a contract until the end of next season ? Drphibes
  21. I know a guy who lives in Blackpool and he was telling me a couple of weeks back that Blackpool wanted Taylor and had offered Vernon, Adrian Forbes and £50000 to secure Taylor. That deal could not happen now because I believe Forbes has been sold but maybe they are still sniffing ? Drphibes
  22. Good draw in my opinion and if we can string a few good results between now and the Hudders game it could result in a good turnout from the Oldham public. I would think Hudders should shift 3000 tickets for this game. Drphibes
  23. Good move for KK in my opinion. With the support that Leeds can command it should really only be a matter of time until they get back into the championship\prem. I would like to think that Shez has known the KK was off quite a few weeks ago and will therefore have some suitable replacements lined up. Drphibes
  24. This kind of abuse etc is not something that is unique to Latics fans Kelly, I am sure it happens in every football ground in the country and it is something that you just have to live with. I agree that the best way to counter the moaners is to shout louder yourself and drown the their comments out. Drphibes
  25. Craig's body language looked poor against Forrest but I was hoping that it might have been down to one or two beers ! Today it was a repeat performance against Walsall and he looked totally uninterested and did not do the things that have made him become popular with the fans. I hope this is just a brief spell of bad form and not something more serious. Drphibes
