  1. This is probably Barrys worst move to be honest, he could argue that in the past he has done things for the benefit of the fans of oafc. Now within days of getting the sacred seat on the board he has threatened owtb. Maybe Simon Corney can have a word and tell him to stop this latest pr disaster ?
  2. I presume Barrington Owen was hands on getting the boy Mellis to sign after the standard due diligence checks
  3. No dont ignore what you might see as failure but surely there are some positives to post about every now and then ?
  4. Especially from somebody who only comments on here when the club has a problem. When was the last time he made a comment about on the field situations ?
  5. Surely its all about trying to limit the chance of violence taking place ? Rochdale and the police must have known that if they had made it all ticket for the game it might well have stopped maybe 50% of the people who went to the game when they realised they could just turn up and walk into the ground ? How many times have latics closed the rocky to home fans on the advice of police or given the large section to away fans for them to bring less than what could easily have gone into the small section ? If somebody wants to have a scrap they will nodoubt end up getting one but I think that this fixture needed every possible option being used to try and stop it.
  6. Judith was always helpful dealing with ticket issues for the disabled fans of this club. Good luck in the future Judith.
  7. If that is aimed at me I was just pointing out that the playing budget might be lower due to the cost of the stand !
  8. Think Joe bought Currie and Keeley have they played blinders against us but no idea why he thought Neil McDonald would be a good signing for about half a million !!
  9. Maybe the new stand is crippling the club more than ever when it comes to the playing budget ?
  10. If Winchester cannot last the 90, the club need to get him some medical help. Wasnt it Warhurst who was blowing after half a game at City and that was one of the reasons they got rid ? Warhurst got put onto some different asthma treatment if I remember correctly and the rest is history !
  11. Think the Athleticos need to refocus because it appears they are to occupied with the stewards instead of back the team for the 90 minutes like they said they would. A small group of supporters standing is and always has been a easy target to deal with for the stewards and until the law states you can stand again its something supporters will have to live with.
  12. First home game of the season against a team who only just missed out on promotion and have since added big players like Henderson to their squad and the Athelticos are giving it to Johnson. Yes it was a shambles in the second half but you lot are having a laugh with your boast about backing the team 100%.
  13. I would imagine Millar will get released and this will free up a low wage for a 12 month deal for Kissock .
  14. Probably on a very low wage but there seems to be no progress at all from the boy so its time to let him go.
  15. We where sat in the RRE and the challenge made by Evatt on JCH looked well worth shouting for. I think the ref didnt give it because JCH would not have been able to keep the ball in play but from what we could see Evatt didnt make contact with the ball. Oh and talking about Evatt, it appeared he needed to take a leak in the prematch warmup. Seeing that the Boundary Park does resemble a building site he obviously thought he could just go into the corner of the RRE\Lookers and do his business. The steward who is there every game must have told him that this was not going to happen and a few words and gestures where exchanged between the pair of them. We thought we would inform Evatt that even though he has recenctly been playing in the Premier League, that did not entitle him to just go and urinate wherever he fancied and he could use the latrines like everybody else. Hearing out advice he decided to give us the good old "up yours" arm gesture to the bewilderment of his fellow players. Sadly I did not have a camera to take a pic of his quite rude gesture but did managed to find this pic that looks remarkably like him !
  16. Great partnership between Ryan and Atkinson who both got sold on to Newcastle and Watford. The pair returned after the moves went sour and returned to Latics but sadly they never found that great form again for us .
  17. Sad to see Cliff go but its obvious that he doesnt fit into the style that Johnson wants us to play now. It would have been good if the club could have offered him a coaching position but I suspect Cliff still wants to play on for awhile yet. One is for certain his attitude has been spot on during his time here, sweeping snow from the pitch and not sulking when he was out of the team are just two examples that must be rare in the modern game.
  18. Anybody would think Cliff had been having a nightmare for 2 or 3 months !! Its one performance when the team was not playing that well and like many have said on here Cliff has had hardly any match practice in pre-season. Thankfully most Latics fans dont hit the panic button on the back of one under par performance. Most accept Cliff in not the most gifted player to grace Boundary Park but his commitment and enthusiasm should not be taken lightly, its not that long ago that many people on here went balistic when Furman jumped ship in the middle of a relegation fight. We all love to see skill out on the pitch but dedicated players who give it their all and dont go sulking when they are not getting picked are very valuable to a team.
  19. Lets be honest most of the time when Latics get onto tv the pundits must do a quick couple of hours homework on us at best. That is why they sometimes come across like they have either no idea or they dont seem to like us.
  20. Not sure when that charge was implemented. I will say though that pricewise the club are ok and are probably on a par with most other clubs. It just seems that the disabled just dont get the same kind of treatment that the clubs able bodied fans get. Take for instance when you purchase your season pass you cannot choose what position to want. I asked the club 5-6 years ago if they could allow the fans to choose a particular spot in the areas available and was told it could not be done. Therefore the result of this is you need to get to inside the ground at 2 to sit where you want. Of course this is not exactly great having to sit in the cold for longer than should be necessary.
  21. Thanks for the update, its just a shame that the club dont keep the fans updated. What is wrong in putting a statement on the official website weeks ago letting us know not to worry ? All we get is the story of the terracing being taken away etc. Touch wood the facilities that are being built now will be ok for the new season but the club need to seriously get a grip before they start building the new stand or if history is anything to go by they will probably drop another clanger. I contacted Barry Owen and the club directly before posting on here and asked what was going.
  22. Neil Joy did say that the Disabled Liason officer was involved in getting this matter resolved. My worry about this is when I asked last season what the new stand would be like for the disabled he just offered " I hope it will be ok for us" . This reply did not exactly give me the impression that he was going to try and make sure that the new facilities would be the best they could.
  23. I am reasonably certain that the club will find some kind of solution to for this season, but I really do hope when the new stand gets built we dont go down the road of previous mistakes. It seems that to many projects get built on the back of so called experts who possess a diploma or two when the real experts are the ones who live with disabilites every day.
  24. The latest demolition work on the Lookers stand has now resulted in one of the clubs disabled areas being demolished and with this leaves a big question mark on what kind of plan Latics have for this season ? Not only has the viewing area been removed but the toilets have also been knocked down and upto now not one single piece of information has come out of the club to let us know what is going on. Therefore I contacted Barry and have also had a brief email exchange with Neil Joy who informed me that an announcement would be made early this week but at this moment nothing has been forthcoming. It seems to me that the club have not given this demolition work anykind of thought because when I contacted them well over a week ago I would have expected them to be able to give me an answer there and then and not have myself and others wondering what the hell is going on. Will there be enough room for all the disabled supporters to watch and game and will there be any toilet facilities ? Can you imagine the uproar if able bodied supporters paid good money for season tickets and then see one of the stands gets razed to the ground with no contingency plan given by the club ? I have been attending Boundary Park for over 30 years and have never really had anykind of input on what myself and others would like or more to the point need to help our match day experience. The new stand is on the cards now and yes you guessed it not one leafet etc has been handed out to us at games to ask us for some thoughts. The club obviously have forgotten the cockup when it built the Rochdale Road stand, good access, good toilets, good view and then oh no people stand up when things get exciting and all the people in wheelchairs are sat staring at the back of peoples heads! One being told about this problem Latics explained they where sorry but the stand was built and that was that ! Come on lets make a stand that we can all enjoy and avoid possibly repeating the mistakes of past years.
  25. Do you mean he liked the toyota yaris Prozac :-)
